GOP’s 2020 plan to expose far-left Dems exposes far-left Trump instead

Without any discernable policy accomplishments to run on in 2020, Trump and the GOP have been following the same script Republicans have used in past elections where they haven’t earned our vote — which is pretty much every election — the politics of distraction.

The tools used most often in their distraction strategy are recycling the lies and broken promises of past campaigns and demonizing the far-left agenda of the Democrat Party. “Vote Republican because #notDemocrat and #notSocialist, even though we want many of the same things as their Democrat counterpart.”

This plan of attack has become increasingly obvious.

As part of his re-election campaign, Mitch McConnell is promising to be the “Grim Reaper” for the advance of socialism, even though he and his Republican cohorts are directly responsible for the rise socialist ideology. In the House, a small band of eight faux conservatives — all but one carried a “D” or worse Liberty Score® from Conservative Review — created the House Anti-Socialism Caucus designed to “inform lawmakers and the public on the dangers of socialism and to stand as a bulwark to stop the advancement of socialist policies and legislation.”

The success or most likely failure of this strategy remains to be seen, but I believe we are witnessing an unintended consequence. While Republicans are hoping to expose the far-left extremism of the Democrats, they’re really exposing the far-left extremism of the Democrat with an “R” after his name currently in the White House and leading the ticket in 2020.

Over the past few years, much of the far-left agenda has been openly promoted by Trump and the GOP, including:

Over the past few weeks Trump has supported Pride Month and the pro-LGBT agenda, and he’s come out in opposition to laws recently passed in several states to ban abortion because they didn’t provide the proper “exception.”

And here’s an irony for you. By embracing the agenda of the far-left, Trump and the GOP have positioned themselves to the left of Joe Biden on many issues. Biden is now being called the “moderate” Democrat alternative to Trump in 2020.

Meanwhile, Trump and the GOP “leadership” are working to take out conservatives like Justin Amash. No surprise, really. Isn’t that exactly what you’d expect far-left extremists to do?
