Trump’s ATF nominee is bad news for the Second Amendment

Truth hasn’t been very kind to Donald Trump this week as we exposed his far-left extremism on a host of issues from the Green New Deal to gun control, and the cult has been less than pleased about it.

As I wrote yesterday, one area where I’ve been receiving the most “feedback” is Trump’s long track record of support for Constitution-killing gun-control laws — most recently, his support for banning firearm suppressors (aka, silencers).

Despite protestations from people Trump claims would support him even if he shot someone on Fifth Avenue — maybe we need gun control laws for presidents — the anti-gun agenda has experienced major advances under his presidency. Two of the most notable Democrat-friendly gun-control policies Trump has advanced are the bump stock ban and laws that empower the government to seize the guns of law-abiding citizens without due process using so-called red flag laws.

There are still many who doubt Trump’s commitment to destroy the Second Amendment, but his recent nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) not only proves his intentions, it brings his administration one step closer to having all the muscle necessary to get the job done.

Gun Owners of America — my preferred source for news affecting gun rights following the NRA’s cave to Trump and his bump stock ban — is reporting that Trump’s nominee is bad news for gun owners.

His name is Chuck Canterbury, and he is the president of the anti-gun Fraternal Order of Police. Sadly, Canterbury has a long track record that should concern gun owners:

GOA is sponsoring a campaign where concerned citizens can easily contact their Senators via email to oppose Canterbury’s nomination, and I’ve included a link below where you can send an email to your Senator. It only takes a few moments, so I hope you’ll do so.

With the fecklessness of the GOP and the Trumpservatives who have abandoned conservatism, the odds are against us. But even these cowards can be pressured to do their job if enough of us demand it. And if they don’t, I hope you will vote accordingly in 2020.
