Trump, GOP and faux conservatives to keep Mueller in the news until 2020

Special Counsel Robert Mueller concluded his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and related matters.

Mueller apparently found no evidence of Trump collusion with Russia — I say “apparently” because Mueller’s report hasn’t been released yet and all we have to go on is a vague four-page synopsis by the new, extremely biased Attorney General, William Barr — but Trump, the GOP, and faux conservatives in Washington and media wasted no time spinning the report for political gain while working on ways to keep it in the headlines.

Though he found no collusion, Mueller failed to clear Trump on possible obstruction of justice, a significant fact based on history. Richard Nixon didn’t get in trouble for Watergate, he got in trouble for obstructing justice by trying to cover it up. This didn’t go over too well with BlazeTV’s Mark Levin:

“Not only was it a cop-out, I think [Mueller] was a coward.

“He didn’t pull the trigger on this … because he didn’t have probable cause.

“I do not respect this prosecutor at all. … It took him two years to tell us there was no collusion? Two years?”

Mr. Levin might want to check with the White House in the future to make sure he’s reporting the correct talking points because Trump told reporters yesterday that Mueller acted “honorably.” Ironic when you remember that Trump endlessly railed about how Mueller was “disgraced and discredited” and how the investigation was nothing more than a “witch hunt.”

Trump also said that Mueller’s report should be released to the public, but Mitch McConnell is blocking the release.

More than likely, Trump’s acceptance of Mueller as his personal savior comes with strings attached. Always on the lookout for ways to attack the “Fake News” media — aka media that reports unfavorably about him — Trump is using the report he says “completely vindicated” him to threaten TV news producers who allowed their guests to make “outlandish, false claims” about him over the past two years. No confirmation yet as to whether the letter was sent to FOX News or BlazeTV.

“Moving forward, we ask that you employ basic journalistic standards when booking such guests to appear anywhere in your universe of productions. You should begin by asking the basic question: Does this guest warrant further appearances in our programming, given the outrageous and unsupported claims made in the past?

“If these guests do reappear, you should replay the prior statements and challenge them to provide the evidence which prompted them to make the wild claims in the first place.

“At this point, there must be introspection from the media who facilitated the reckless statements and serious evaluation of how such guests are considered and handled in the future.”

Meanwhile, Trumplicans and Trumpservatives joined in on the fun.

Sen. Lindsey Graham announced his intention to begin investigating several Obama-era scandals — gee, I wonder where these have been hiding over the past two years — including, Hillary’s email scandal. So, investigating Trump and his people was a waste of time and money but investigating a president and his people who are no longer in office isn’t? The political motivation and hypocrisy couldn’t be more obvious.

Hey, Lindsey! If you’re going to investigate email scandals, you better be prepared to add Jared and Ivanka to the list.

Right on cue, Reps. Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan appeared before Trump’s morning intel team at Fox & Friends to declare the president’s “total vindication” despite attacks from Democrats and “lies” from the mainstream media. Are you catching a theme here? Meadows and Jordan also vowed “further investigations” of the intelligence community to find out if they have been involved in activities designed to harm Trump.

Whether intentional or accidental, the Mueller investigation has been the perfect distraction for Trump and the GOP to hide their abysmal performance over the past two years — although it didn’t help them keep the House in the midterms — and now that it’s officially over, they will need to find other ways to hide their failures.

Creating a new distraction the magnitude of the Mueller investigation would simply take too long, so Trump, the GOP, and faux conservatives in Washington and the media will focus on keeping the investigation alive in new and different ways, but with the same goal they have every election season.

Vote Republican in 2020. Not because they’ve earned your vote, but because they’re #notDemocrat.
