Socialism wins out in 2020, Democratic Socialism wins in 2024

Following the 2018 midterm election, where the Democrat Party experienced their largest midterm election gains since Watergate, the growing acceptance of Marxist-style socialism as the cure for the “ills” caused by capitalism served to fuel much of their liberty-killing agenda — an agenda also embraced by a growing number of Republicans.

One of the rising stars in this pro-Marxist movement is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. As a member of “the largest socialist organization” in the country (Democratic Socialists of America), she is proving to be someone a growing number of Americans are ready and willing to follow.

Often ridiculed for her socialist idealism by ignorant Republicans and Democrats who don’t like the competition, AOC’s rise in popularity has many calling on her to run for president in 2024 when she would meet the 35-years-old age requirement spelled out in the Constitution — a scenario I wrote about nearly a year ago as very possible.

With the 2020 election season heating up, AOC has been traveling the country in support of fellow Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, prompting his campaign advisor to sing her praises:

“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a leader in the progressive movement. She’s broadly popular, frankly, among Democratic voters. She is particularly strong with young voters, voters of color. She’s an important national voice, and adding her weight to the political revolution is a real coup for us.”

In the article I mentioned where I wrote about the possibility of a President Ocasio-Cortez, I documented how her socialist ideology was gaining in popularity with young Americans. According to polling information provided by Gallup, 68 percent of young people ages 18-29 years old approved of capitalism while 51 percent approved of socialism in 2010, but in August 2018, the same age group backed socialism over capitalism 51 percent to 45 percent.

It would appear this trend is continuing. According to a new survey released by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, only one in two millennials, ages 23 to 38, support capitalism. Additionally, 36 percent approve of communism, an increase from 28 percent last year.

The most troubling bit of information in the poll ahead of the 2020 election is that 70 percent of millennials polled say they are somewhat or extremely likely to vote socialist in November.

Meanwhile, Trump is promising that “America will never be a socialist country” and Mitch McConnell is promising to be the “Grim Reaper” for socialism. But socialism marches on under their “leadership,” as we witnessed recently when Ivanka Trump succeeded in getting paid family leave added to the omnibus spending deal.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Socialists of America are fun to ridicule, but it’s foolish to dismiss the serious threat they pose to liberty in America.

Socialism will win more than it loses in 2020 regardless of who wins the White House or which party in the Republican/Democrat duopoly controls Congress. And in the end, it will do little more than create the perfect environment for a Democratic Socialist to win the presidency in 2024.
