Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist agenda gaining support from both parties

I’ve written several articles since the 2018 midterms about the growing acceptance of Marxist-style socialism within the Democrat Party and how it has moved Democrats further left than we ever thought possible as they openly advocate destroying capitalism and replacing it with socialism.

One of the faces of this devolution away from liberty toward Big Brother government is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a card-carrying member of “the largest socialist organization” in the U.S. — Democrat Socialists of America (DSA) — often making her the topic of my diatribes on socialism.

While some of her antics have made her an easy target for so-called conservatives unable to defend the failed policies of Donald Trump and the GOP establishment, I believe that she is a leader America is ready and willing to follow. I also believe that failing to take her seriously could be a mistake of epic proportions.

Part of Ocasio-Cortez’s successful political career is due to the help she has received from Justice Democrats, a new player in the plan to transform America into a socialist utopia. The NY Representative has teamed up with them and the DSA to take out incumbent Democrats considered “too conservative” to support socialist ideals such as: taxing the rich, wealth redistribution, and government-run healthcare.

The level of success Justice Democrats and Ocasio-Cortez will have in their “war” against the Democrats remains to be seen, but recent polling indicates they will do better than you might think.

For example, when it comes to taxing the rich and government-mandated redistribution of wealth, recent surveys indicate overwhelming support for these proposals. According to a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, 76 percent of registered voters believe the rich should pay more in taxes, and a recent FOX News survey showed 70 percent of Americans favored raising taxes on those making more than $10 million — including 54 percent of Republicans.

When asked specifically about Ocasio-Cortez’s proposal to raise income tax rates to 70 percent on income over $10 million, 59 percent of respondents in a Hill/HarrisX poll supported it.

Ideas more radical than Ocasio-Cortez’s also polled well. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s “wealth tax” on the “ultrarich” — Americans worth more than $50 million — enjoyed the support of 50 to 61 percent of Democrats and Republicans according to three recently released surveys.

And here’s a fun fact: Before he was a fake conservative, Donald Trump was a real liberal who proposed a wealth tax worse than Warren’s when he was pursuing the Reform Party nomination for the 2000 election. His plan would have imposed a “net worth tax” of 14.25 percent on individuals and trusts worth $10 million or more to pay off the national debt.

Meanwhile, socialism continues to gain traction with the majority of Americans as capitalism slowly dies, thanks to a feckless GOP and the rise of “conservative socialism.”
