Sen. Bob Corker picks NSA over the Constitution

NSA - Liberty vs SecurityRINO Bob Corker is at it again! After leading the way in passing legislation that surrendered the Senate’s constitutional responsibility to approve treaties — guaranteeing that Iran will have nuclear weapons sooner rather than later — the constitutionally illiterate Senator from Tennessee is about to join forces with Gutless On Principles (GOP) Hall of Shame enshrinees John McCain and Mitch McConnell in pushing for an extension to the law allowing the National Security Agency to continue its warrantless collection of phone records.

It was just recently that a three judge panel of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled that the bulk collection of American phone records by the NSA was illegal, prompting McConnell and McCain to throw a McFit over the decision, arguing that the illegal spying was necessary in order to keep America safe.

But that apparently falls way short of what Bob Corker would like to see.

In a recent statement on the NSA’s activities, Corker said that “it’s beyond belief how little data is a part of the program.” He went on to say that the American public should be less worried about privacy and should back increased collection as a means to foiling terrorist attacks. (emphasis mine)

The House of Representatives just overwhelmingly passed the USA Freedom Act that would end the NSA’s collection of domestic calling records, but it would allow the agency to request certain phone records with a court order — something that is legal.

Meanwhile, McConnell and his gang of RINO cheerleaders prefer a bill that would allow the NSA to continue collecting phone records through 2020.

And if Corker has anything to say about it, phone records will only be the beginning.
