Joni Ernst joins Dianne Feinstein to boost Joe Biden’s anti-gun agenda

One of the indisputable realities of the Republican/Democrat duopoly is that there is simply no difference between the two parties, which is why it should come as no surprise to learn that Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) has joined forces with Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to give a boost to Joe Biden’s anti-gun agenda.

Conservatives not sold-out to Trump or the Republican Party saw this one coming a mile away.

Joni Ernst indicated during her 2020 reelection campaign that she was open to the idea of adding “sensible” anti-gun legislation as part of the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Ernst supported re-authorizing and expanding VAWA — a 1994 law authored by then-Senator Joe Biden — but allegedly opposed anti-gun provisions included in the reauthorization bill.

Of course, Ernst didn’t really have a problem with anti-gun legislation and dismantling the Second Amendment, which is why she came up with her own version of VAWA — complete with “sensible” gun control provisions — thus allowing her to run for reelection on the claim that she was protecting gun rights when the exact opposite was true.

Separate from VAWA — the 2021 reauthorization passed the House last year — it’s been no secret that Joe Biden is extremely hostile to the Second Amendment. Likewise, it’s been no secret that Joni Ernst supported Biden’s anti-gun agenda.

In the early days of his presidency, Biden issued a plethora of anti-gun executive orders that he said would deal with “epidemic” of gun violence in America, and he defended his unconstitutional orders by declaring that none of our constitutionally protected rights are “absolute.”

“Nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment. They’re phony arguments suggesting these are Second Amendment rights at stake with what we’re talking about. But no amendment, no amendment to the Constitution is absolute.”

“So the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we’re recommending are contrary to the Constitution,” he added. “Gun violence in this country is an epidemic. And it’s an international embarrassment.” (emphasis mine)

In response to Biden’s absurd claim, Joni Ernst told her constituents that she was “disturbed when he said any amendments to the constitution are not absolute.” Did that mean she opposed Biden’s anti-gun agenda? Nope. She just wanted it done by Congress instead of executive order:

“We’ll go back, we’ll take a look at what he’s proposed as far as gun legislation, what he would like to see happen in the future, but we would rather not see these things come down by executive order.

“It really should come down through congress.”

But that was then, and this is now.

Last month, Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Joni Ernst (R-IA), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) announced that they are days away from unveiling a MASSIVE new federal gun control bill as a part of the Senate version of VAWA yet to be voted on.

Here are some of the nitty-gritty details of how Ernst is “protecting gun rights” (via Iowa Gun Owners):

Most gun owners are well aware of what a ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ bill would do. Think of this as ‘Red Flags’ on steroids. Just some of what we know is going to be in this legislation (known as the Violence Against Women Act) includes:

>>> Expanding the list of misdemeanors that would place a person on the ‘prohibited persons’ list for the rest of their life.

Felony convictions have long been the standard that determines who can and cannot own a firearm. If the left can successfully start adding misdemeanors to this list, it’s going to open the flood gates and millions of gun owners will be disarmed!

>>> A new requirement that would send an incident report to local law enforcement every time someone fails a NICS check.

Studies have shown that 94% of NICS checks that fail are false positives! But this legislation would encourage law enforcement to open a criminal investigation against you for failing a NICS check, allowing you to be harassed for no reason!

>>> New language allowing state and local prosecutors to be deputized as part-time United States Attorneys and state and local cops to be deputized as part-time ATF agents to investigate and prosecute violations of this new law.

In other words, Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland would federalize state and local authorities, weaponizing them against gun owners who fall victim to this new legislation!

Joni Ernst, Dianne Feinstein, and crew had hoped to reauthorize VAWA before Christmas — complete with Joe Biden’s anti-gun agenda — but they failed. Still, the legislation is simmering on the back burner ready to become law when the opportune time comes.

I predicted nearly a year ago that Republicans would eventually give Joe Biden’s anti-gun agenda overwhelming support, and it looks like that prediction is about to come true.

No surprise really because even though there is little doubt that Joe Biden and far-left Democrats like Dianne Feinstein have every intention of destroying the Second Amendment, there is also little doubt that Republicans and faux conservatives like Joni Ernst will cave to their anti-gun agenda when politically advantageous.

Isn’t it amazing to watch faux conservatives at work when they don’t have a reelection to worry about?
