GOP election strategy: More failed tax cuts, trade wars, and budget deficits

While establishment politicians in Washington are never not campaigning, Labor Day is typically considered the unofficial launch of campaign season. This means we should prepare to be fed a boatload of bombastic balderdash praising the GOP despite nearly two years of broken promises and few policy successes.

Due to the fact that Trump and the GOP-controlled Congress are about to complete one of the most unproductive legislative sessions in American history, these racketeering Republicans will be trying to buy your vote — almost literally — with promises of more tax cuts and more spending.

Building on the crumbling foundation laid at the beginning of the year with tax cuts that put loads of money in the pockets of corporations while doing very little to improve wages, Trump and the GOP passed a monstrous spending bill in March. The omnibus not only broke every promise made to get the budget under control, but it funded most of Barack Obama’s priorities, including: funding for Planned Parenthood, Obamacare, and sanctuary cities.

With the tax cuts failing to deliver as promised, and with the current omnibus about to expire, Trump and the GOP have officially launched their propaganda machine where they will claim that their agenda is working while promising more of the same failed policies they’ve already given us.

As part of the propaganda machine, Trump has been leading the way of spreading his version of fake news concerning the economy. In a recent tweet, he claimed that the gross domestic product (GDP) rate was higher than the unemployment rate for the first time in over 100 years.

He wasn’t only wrong; he wasn’t even close to telling the truth. Even Trump Pravda (FOX News) couldn’t let that one slide, pointing out that there have been 63 quarters where GDP was higher than unemployment since 1948.

Trump has also been busy justifying his “good and easy to win” trade war, despite the lost jobs, higher prices, and rising trade deficit we are now experiencing as a result. Recently, he had to spend $12 billion of taxpayer money to bribe farmers hurt by the trade war to vote Republican.

Meanwhile, House Republicans just announced “tax reform 2.0” which is projected to add another $2 trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years. This announcement came just moments after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released the news that the federal deficit increased 32% in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year to $895 billion with a prediction of nearly $1 trillion next year.

The GOP-controlled Congress is also continuing to push for hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending for Trump’s Obama-inspired infrastructure scam.

In the end, the effort to buy your vote by Trump and the GOP proves only one thing: Republicans are no different than Democrats, and letting them keep their power won’t change a thing.
