Trump 2020 campaign: Conspiracy theories and fake news rants

conspiracy theories fake news

Now that the Republican National Convention Trump National Convention (TNC) is behind him, Trump has officially moved his 2020 campaign into full-time mode and went right to work replacing his lack of discernable policy outcomes with conspiracy theories and “FAKE NEWS” rants in a desperate attempt to win in November.

To be fair, Trump probably had little choice in the matter, especially with post-convention polling showing no change in key battleground states. I guess America wasn’t buying the lie that only Trump’s America can save us from Trump’s America.

In an interview with FOX News host and Trump cheerleader Laura Ingraham, she asked Trump who he believed was “pulling Biden’s strings” (Ingraham’s words). Trump responded with a conspiracy theory about how “people in dark shadows” were controlling the Democrat nominee for president. Bill Kristol at TheBulwark.com provides a brief transcript of the conspiracy theory part of the interview:

Trump: And Biden — well Biden is — I don’t even like to mention Biden, because he’s not controlling anything. They control him.

Ingraham: Who do you think is pulling Biden’s strings? Is it former Obama officials…?

Trump: People that you’ve never heard of. People that are in the dark shadows. People that…

Ingraham: What does that mean? That sounds like conspiracy theory. Dark shadows, what is that?

Trump: No. People that you haven’t heard of. They’re people that are on the streets. They’re people that are controlling the streets. We had somebody get on a plane from a certain city this weekend, and in the plane it was almost completely loaded with thugs wearing these dark uniforms, black uniforms with gear and this and that. They’re on a plane…

Ingraham: Where — where was this?

Trump: I’ll tell you sometime, but it’s under investigation right now, but they came from a certain city, and this person was coming to the Republican National Convention, and there were like seven people on the plane like this person, and then a lot of people were on the plane to do big damage. They were coming for…

Ingraham: Planning for Washington?

Trump: Yes, this was all — this is all happening.

As Kristol accurately points out:

“When Laura Ingraham is amazed by something Donald Trump has said, and tries to save him from himself? Donald Trump has jumped the shark.

“But of course Trump often jumps the shark. And here we still are.”

By the way, Trump’s says the dark shadow people involved in his conspiracy theory are “under investigation right now.” I wonder: do you think Trump has the same people who investigated Hillary (and found nothing) working on this one?

And then we have Trump’s Joseph Goebbels-inspired attack on the press using his tried-and-true “Fake News” propaganda.

In response to a book written by New York Times correspondent Michael Schmidt where he mentions that Mike Pence was once put on stand-bye in the event that Trump was incapacitated, the Narcissist-in-Chief sent out a tweet saying he never suffered from “mini-strokes” — even though Schmidt never said he did.

A short time later, Trump went on another fake news rant against the media (CNN).

In a Mediaite.com report, we learn that the Trump campaign made a demand that the network fire political analyst Joe Lockhart for sending out a tweet on Monday asking if Trump had suffered a stroke and if he was keeping it a secret from the America public.

In the statement, the Trump campaign called Lockhart’s tweet “ludicrous and reckless speculation.” Ironically, they accused the CNN contributor of spreading a “conspiracy theory” about Trump’s health.

“CNN should fire Joe Lockhart, a lifetime failure who thought it was a great idea for fellow loser Michael Dukakis to put on that stupid helmet, for knowingly pushing a conspiracy theory about President Trump’s health.

“Great political expert that he is, Lockhart single-handedly sank the John Kerry campaign and now he’s doing the same to Joe Biden from a distance.

“If another CNN employee said similar things about Barack Obama they’d be fired immediately, so the same standard should be applied here. That is, of course, unless CNN is complicit in the smear campaign in order to level the playing field against Joe Biden, somebody who truly has lost a step.

In 2016, Trump won the Republican nomination and the presidency by spreading conspiracy theories about Ted Cruz’s family, along with making numerous attacks on the news media.

Since Trump has nothing tangible in the discernable policy-outcome department worthy of re-election, all he has are new conspiracy theories and renewed attacks on the “Fake News” media to run on in 2020.

Get ready for much, much more of this lunacy.

Get ready for the Fellowship of the Pharisees to keep singing the praises of “God’s Man.”

Get ready for Trump’s bought-and-paid-for Republican Party to continue doing his bidding.

Get ready for the pro-Trump echo chamber and the faux conservative media to give him cover because “Democrats are worse.”
