Susan Rice: The Barack Obama connection to Joe Biden’s gun control agenda

“Who’s running the show at the White House?” is one of the unanswered questions often asked about Joe Biden in light of his dementia laden, Obama-esque presidency, but thanks to a recent admission by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, we now know that Obama’s former National Security Advisor and the current head of Biden’s Domestic Policy Council, Susan Rice, is in charge of policy on issues from gun control to student loan debt.

Who needs the Constitution when you have Susan Rice to take care of things? (via TheHill.com):

When White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced questions recently about calls for an administration office to tackle gun violence, she had an answer: Susan Rice is in charge.

Rice, she said, is already leading a 12-person team from her perch atop the Domestic Policy Council to execute a government-wide effort to reduce gun violence that also brings in mental health and workforce development.

“There’s no one who is better at bringing stakeholders to the table to drive progress,” Jean-Pierre told reporters.

The announcement served as a reminder that Rice is at the center of major and contentious policy debates and decisions on everything from gun violence to immigration to criminal justice reform to student loan debt forgiveness to the stymied talks around President Biden’s signature domestic legislative effort.

Rice is among a cadre of Obama-era officials who joined Biden’s administration early on. She, Klain, deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed and other officials are said to brief Biden in the Oval Office several times a week.

“There is a reason that Susan is the only person in American history to have led both the White House’s National Security Council and its Domestic Policy Council: she has unique talents, intellect, and determination to get results,” Klain said in a statement to The Hill on Monday. “Thanks to Susan and the Domestic Policy Council team in the Biden Administration, we have achieved historic wins: health care coverage for over 5 million more Americans, student loan relief for 1.3 million borrowers, and historic executive orders to advance equity and public safety. Most impressive is her tireless work to save American lives on essential gun reform, spearheading the White House’s efforts.” (Emphasis mine)

Susan Rice’s fingerprints were all over the Obama/Biden gun control agenda even before she went to work as head of the Domestic Policy Council.

In a June 2020 interview with a pair of gun control groups, Rice called for creating a national gun registry, gun buybacks, and gun bans along with a “permanent” ban on “assault weapons” when she appeared via video with Moms Demand Action and Everytown For Gun Safety. Rice openly supported then-candidate Joe Biden’s gun control agenda, including his plan to ban specific semi-automatic rifles, outlaw “high-capacity magazines” and eliminate liability protections for weapons manufacturers and sellers.

Shortly after her appointment to the Domestic Policy Council, Rice and Biden senior advisor Cedric Richmond held a virtual meeting with representatives from Brady, Giffords, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Moms Demand Action. According to those in attendance, Rice and Richmond indicated that Biden was ready and willing to use multiple avenues to try to curb gun violence, including executive action.

“I think everything is on the table. I think the White House is certainly supportive of Congress doing their part. I think there are things we’d like to see happen through legislation. … But certainly there is a role for executive action,” said Adzi Vokhiwa, director of federal affairs at Giffords.

Earlier this year, we learned that Biden had taken action on one of Rice’s priorities when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) released information showing the creation of a national gun registry currently containing nearly one billion records detailing American citizens’ firearm purchases.

According to senior aides, Biden’s trust in Susan Rice is limitless which is why they meet multiple times a week.

While the majority of gun control extremists are happy with Susan Rice’s performance, some are calling on Joe Biden to pull a Barack Obama and appoint a “czar” solely dedicated to the issue of gun control. We’ve heard calls for the creation of a “czar” before in response to gun violence.

In an open letter published by the Washington Post in August 2014 following the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, the Congressional Black Caucus and a group of civil rights leaders, religious leaders, unions, and many others petitioned Barack Obama and the Justice Department to take “immediate action” and create a “czar” and federalize local police departments.

When it comes to extreme and unconstitutional gun control laws, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Susan Rice are Exhibit A on finding ways to destroy the Second Amendment. But as we learned earlier this year, next in that line is the Republican Party.

It’s tempting to erroneously dismiss Susan Rice’s influence on Joe Biden and his gun control agenda as old news, but when you add Barack Obama and the spineless Republican Party to the mix, it should motivate us to gird our lions in preparation to do what we must to defend our God-given rights against the tyrants out to destroy them.

We’re almost out of time.
