The theme of the week at The Strident Conservative has been conservatism and how, in the Age of Trump, conservative principles have been traded for power and privilege in Washington and with the so-called conservative media.
I’ve shared with you how this acquiescence to Trumpism has left the remnant of what remains of conservatism with little alternative other than to walk the road of conservative principles alone instead of walking with the crowd of compromising cowards going in the wrong direction.
I’ve written about how so-called conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus not only adopted Trump’s non-conservative policies while defending his indefensible behavior, but how they made loyalty to Trump the barometer of what constitutes a conservative in Washington.
I’ve also documented how so-called conservatives in the media have not only defended Trumps loathsome behavior but have praised him even when he attacks the Constitution. And I provided examples of what this looks like in stories about talk show host Hugh Hewitt and CRTV White House Correspondent John Miller.
Today I bring you another example of how Trumpism has corrupted the so-called conservative media from a well-known source of Trump-love, Sean Hannity from Trump Pravda (FOX News).
At a Florida rally Tuesday night, Trump’s loyal cult showed us where his attacks on what he calls “Fake News” is taking the country when they threatened and intimidated CNN Reporter Jim Acosta.
Just a sample of the sad scene we faced at the Trump rally in Tampa. I’m very worried that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative media will result in somebody getting hurt. We should not treat our fellow Americans this way. The press is not the enemy. pic.twitter.com/IhSRw5Ui3R

As we all know, Trump has CNN on his list of “enemies of the American people” and last week we witnessed another episode of his “Fake News” spiel when CNN Reporter Kaitlan Collins was banned from the White House for asking Trump tough questions.
Unlike the Collins incident, however, FOX News employees didn’t defend Jim Acosta. Instead, Hannity blamed him for the violent actions of #Cult45 and told him to get in line by reporting on Trump as he does or face the consequences.
“I’m actually going to give your network some advice, if you have an open mind and an open heart. The people of this country are screaming at you for a reason. They don’t like your unfair, abusively biased treatment of the president of the United States.
“If you want to earn the respect of all Americans, not the coastal elites in California, San Francisco and New York, maybe try reporting the entire story and getting rid of the bias. Maybe examine why people are saying this to us.
“In other words, coverage like (yours) from the White House correspondent at CNN … is why they are doing it.”
Biased treatment of the president? I bet if you look up the word irony in the dictionary, you’d find Hannity’s picture.
Irony aside, however, Hannity is a constant reminder of how so-called conservatives in media have traded principles for a seat on the Trump train. Actually, in Hannity’s case, he never had a seat on the Trump train; he’s been the engineer driving the dang thing ever since it left the station in 2016.
His daily radio commentary is distributed by the Salem Radio Network and is heard on stations across America.
