Putting our faith in Republicans and Democrats is destroying liberty
Liberty is being destroyed in America because voters are putting their faith in Republicans and Democrats who have abandoned the Constitution in favor of saving the two-party system built by the two parties for the benefit of the two parties. Like falling dominos, the duopoly has destroyed liberty in order to elect political cowards lacking the desire to fight for anything other than their own political preservation.
The current state of American politics is badly divided, and many assume that the loudest voices in these divided groups represent the view of the majority. This belief has benefited the Democrat Party, where activism and protests are the staple of the progressive left, but it has also benefited the Republican Party, making them indistinguishable from their so-called counterparts.
Virtue signaling. Wokeness. Climate change. The LGBT agenda. Immigration. Endless wars. Demands for increased regulation. A relentless pursuit of free everything (except people and the marketplace). These are just some of the ways progressives and Marxists in the Democrat Party along with the nationalists and fascists in the Republican Party project strength as they systematically dismantle the Bill of Rights.
Large, angry, liberty-loving crowds are to politicians what Kryptonite is to Superman; what sunlight is to a vampire; what snakes are to Indiana Jones. And it is this sheepish, paralyzing fear of Americans exercising their God-given rights that has controlled the Republican and Democrat parties for decades. They fear the labels hurled at them by emotionally driven mobs. They fear how they may be perceived in the media. They fear losing their seat in the halls of power. They fear Donald Trump.
These political cowards see little need to exercise the authority voters have placed with them, choosing instead to cower to their extremist base, party leadership, and their political action committees. Why is that? Why are the lions and tigers and bears of Washington, DC more frightening to Republicans and Democrats than the voters who pull the lever in their favor every few years? The answer is as plain as the nose on your face.
Fear is control. Fear keeps the peasants in line. Fear protects political agendas. Fear is a tool used by cowards in Washington to ensure they retain their seats of power, allowing them to continue hiding among the body politic because it’s safer there. Confound the masses, distract them with mindless news chatter and entertainment, pit them against one another by turning minor disagreements into major skirmishes, and tie them up in knots over matters lacking in national significance.
Most importantly, divide the people into factions, persuade them to see each other as the enemy and keep them screaming at each other so that they drown out all other sounds. In this way, they will never reach consensus about anything and will be too distracted to notice the police state being created by Republicans and Democrats is closing in on them until the final crushing curtain falls.
This is how free people enslave themselves and allow tyrants to prevail. This scheme has so ensnared the nation that few Americans even realize they are being manipulated into adopting an “us” against “them” mindset. Instead, fueled with fear and loathing for phantom opponents, they agree to pour millions of dollars and resources into political elections, militarized police, spy technology, and endless wars, hoping for a guarantee of safety that never comes.
All the while, those in power — bought and paid for by lobbyists and corporations — move their costly agendas forward, and “we the suckers” get saddled with the tax bills and subjected to pat downs, police raids and round-the-clock surveillance. In today’s America, neither party defends the foundations of our Republic. Instead, they defend their sources of revenue because they are now in it for the money … our money.
When Republicans groomed by Trumpism and Nationalism agree in full or in part that government is responsible for “making things better,” improving society, purifying humanity, and providing our safety, the difference between them and Democrats is reduced to nothing. In the end, Republicans want to control people and remain in power just as much as Democrats.
Regulating the conduct of everyday Americans through burdensome laws and a bloated bureaucracy are the most effective tools of Republican and Democrat cowards even though they will never admit it. And if they face any pushback for their actions, Republicans will pretend to object to the tyranny they created by engaging in a bit of kabuki theatre — stepping aside to allow Democrats to take the blame while offering a cursory protest before negotiating a bipartisan alternative when no one is looking.
As a conservative, I often find myself wondering why Republicans always concede to Democrat demands. Are they incapable of proposing legislation that accomplishes their own “stated” agenda and platform? Do they even have an agenda or platform anymore? Quite frankly, since Republicans lack any consistent position on issues, there is no policy where surrender isn’t preferred to courage.
How many times over the years did we hear Mitch McConnell and his crew promise great and marvelous things from a Republican majority? And how many times did Republicans cave to Democrats to accomplished diddly when they had the majority?
From 2016 to the present, Republican and Democrat cowards found a patsy to hide behind; someone not burdened with steadfast ideals or convictions. Donald Trump provided them with the cover they needed to do nothing while pretending to do something. And the only thing Trump demanded in return was their unconditional loyalty in exchange for their oath to defend and protect the Constitution.
Trump absolved Republican cowards of all responsibility while running the party from the Oval Office. Trump’s policy positions changed daily and Trumpist Republicans followed suit. Trump blurred the lines of conservatism by touting nationalism over conservatism. Trump openly debased those who dared to speak an unkind word in reference to him, and he channeled his inner Joseph Goebbels to mock unfavorable media while simultaneously lining his pockets.
The entire Republican Party — so allergic to courage that even if a spine were donated to them their bodies would likely reject the transplant — had found their political messiah in Donald Trump and declared him to be God’s chosen as they willingly laid their tinfoil crowns at his feet.
As I make clear in my book The New Axis of Evil: Exposing the Bipartisan War on Liberty, history is filled with examples of the many ways Republicans and Democrats have worked together to destroy freedom, even during times when they appear to be at odds with each other. We have witnessed several instances of the great atrocities committed under their so-called leadership.
In the Age of Trump, some of the liberty-killing atrocities committed by Republicans were fully supported by other members of the New Axis of Evil: the so-called conservative media talking heads and the religious leaders I refer to as the Fellowship of the Pharisees. Not to be left out, Democrats are adopting many of the same liberty-killing ideas as they prepare for the next presidential election (See Project 2029).
Republicans and Democrats have abandoned reason, the rule of law, the Constitution, individual liberty, and the Republic itself all because of their love of power over their love of the Constitution. Unfortunately, even though fear is the only way for the duopoly to function, voters will inevitably pull the lever for them again and again because they have bought into the lies and fear peddled by both parties.
Putting our faith and confidence in these political cowards is the very reason America is losing her liberty.
