‘Conservative’ Republicans will celebrate Pride Month at Trump Tower

Even as MAGA celebrates the “success” of Donald Trump’s anti-woke agenda, Republicans are making plans to celebrate Pride Month with a party to be held at the legendary Trump Tower in New York City.

Hosted by the Log Cabin Republicans New York City chapter and co-sponsored by a long list of groups affiliated with the Republican Party, the “Pride Right 2025” event is being heralded as a “night of patriotism and pride at Trump Tower” (via MeidasTouch Network):

On June 28, the Log Cabin Republicans of New York City will host their annual “Pride Right” party at the iconic Trump property, complete with a premium open bar, hors d’oeuvres, guest speakers, and rainbow-themed promotional graphics. The event is explicitly billed as a celebration of “patriotism and pride,” and tickets are priced at $175.

According to promotional materials and a graphic shared on social media, the event is being sponsored by a wide slate of GOP organizations—including the Maverick PAC, the Gay Officers Action League New England, the Manhattan Republican Party, the Young Republicans National Federation, the New York Senate Republican Assembly Campaign Committee, the Metropolitan Republican group, the New York State Republican Party, The Women’s National Republican Club Inc, and the College Republican New York Federation.

The long list of sponsors makes clear that this isn’t just a fringe or symbolic event—it has full backing from local, state, and national levels of the Republican Party and is being hosted at Trump’s signature property: Trump Tower. (Emphasis mine)

If you’re a regular reader and/or listener of the Strident Conservative, you know this event isn’t an anomaly. It is, in fact, part of a years-long strategy by Donald Trump and the “woke right” members of the Republican Party to embrace the LGBT agenda and make it a part of the GOP.

In November 2021, Donald and Melania Trump, along with the Republican Party, unveiled the newly created ‘RNC Pride Coalition’ in partnership with the Log Cabin Republicans at their “Spirit of Lincoln Gala.” In addition to Mr. and Mrs. Trump, the event attracted several high-profile Republicans and pro-LGBT “conservatives,” including Trump’s former Director of National Intelligence and current “envoy for special missions,” Ric Grenell.

This new partnership with the Log Cabin Republicans was hailed at the time by then-Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Ronna McDaniel (via FOX News):

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel … said the RNC is “committed” to working with the Log Cabin Republicans — the country’s largest Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBTQ conservatives and allies — calling the organization “a partner to fight for our country’s future.”

“Conservatives in Log Cabin don’t just share our vision for a free, secure and prosperous America — they enrich it by adding unique perspectives to our party and recruiting even more diverse candidates and supporters to join our cause,” McDaniel said.

“The RNC is launching our first-ever RNC Pride Coalition,” she continued, adding that RNC Pride will “work alongside our other coalition groups to invest in communities and mobilize support for the upcoming midterms.” (Emphasis mine)

Donald and Melania joined the Log Cabin Republicans in 2022 for an encore “Spirit of Lincoln” gala — again held at Mar-a-Lago — to begin laying the foundation for his 2024 election and to let those in attendance know that he was “fighting hard” for the LGBT agenda — an agenda he referred to as “our movement.”

We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard. With the help of many of the people here tonight in recent years, our movement has taken incredible strides, the strides you’ve made here is incredible.” (Emphasis mine)

Donald and Melania Trump received a standing ovation for making this proclamation, and they were praised throughout the evening for their embrace of the LGBT agenda.

In April 2024, Melania Trump — with Donald’s blessing — hosted and attended a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida for the Log Cabin Republicans, a group that describes itself as “the nation’s largest Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBT conservatives and allies (via Politico.com):

The former first lady is set to hold her first major political event of the year — a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans on April 20 at Mar-a-Lago, the Palm Beach, Florida, club where she and former president Donald Trump live, according to an invitation obtained by POLITICO.

Melania Trump has long maintained a close relationship with the Log Cabin Republicans, which describes itself as “the nation’s largest Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBT conservatives and allies.” In 2021, she was the special guest at a dinner the organization hosted at Mar-a-Lago, where she was given an award. (Emphasis mine)

It’s disappointing, but not surprising, to see Donald Trump acquiesce to the LGBT agenda; it’s been a part of his presidential ambitions from the very beginning. For example, during his 2016 acceptance speech, Trump sounded a lot like Joe Biden when, using the Orlando shootings for cover, he promised to “protect” the LGBT community from violence:

“Only weeks ago, in Orlando, Fla., 49 wonderful Americans were savagely murdered by an Islamic terrorist. This time, the terrorist targeted the LGBTQ community. No good, and we’re going to stop it. As your president, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology. Believe me.” (Emphasis mine)

In one of his first actions as president, Donald Trump and Ivanka reaffirmed an Obama-era executive order legalizing discrimination against faith-based businesses by requiring government contractors to embrace the LGBT agenda or lose their right to do business with the federal government. Shortly afterwards, Mike Pence — who has a history of his own when it comes to caving to the LGBT agenda — came to the rescue and defended Trump’s decision to extend the order.

During his presidency, Trump launched an effort to “decriminalize” homosexuality worldwide. Richard Grenell, the highest-profile openly homosexual person in the administration, led the effort and defended LGBT deviancy as “God’s truth” in an editorial written for Bild, a German tabloid newspaper:

“While a student at Evangel University, a Christian liberal arts college in Missouri, I was taught by biblical scholars that all truth is God’s truth, no matter where it is found. The truth for LGBT people is that we were born gay.”

During Trump’s failed 2020 reelection, Grenell was hand-picked by Ronna McDaniel to serve as senior adviser focused on outreach to LGBT voters. In that role, Grenell released a video ad claiming that his boss was “the most pro-gay president in American history” — a video promoted by Log Cabin Republicans. Trump responded by retweeting Grenell’s declaration, calling it “My great honor!!!”

Despite the politically correct rhetoric surrounding the LGBT agenda and Donald Trump’s embrace of it, there is nothing conservative about it. We can’t blur the lines on the issue. When something is wrong, it’s wrong. Allying conservatism to the LGBT agenda is wrong.

As Matt Walsh succinctly put it in 2021, “If the Republican Party is going to fully embrace leftist sexual identity politics, then it officially serves no purpose.”

Based on this track record and the upcoming event at Trump Tower celebrating “pride and patriotism,” I’d say that Donald Trump and the Republican Party are still officially serving no purpose in this area.
