Church of Laodicea ‘Christians’ endorse Trump, Republicans in 2026
As we approach the 2026 midterm election, so-called evangelical Christians and their “leaders” that resemble the Church of Laodicea mentioned in the Book of Revelations find themselves desperately working on ways to defend selling out to Trump and the Republican Party despite the GOP’s lack of character and complete abandonment of so-called Christian values.
From 2016 through today, some of the most egregious displays of moral relativism by today’s evangelical are evident in the lengths they have gone to squeeze the immorality of Trump and the Republicans into their “Christian” worldview. Case in point, Fellowship of the Pharisees’ founding member and chief charlatan Robert Jeffress once judged “Never Trump evangelicals” during the 2020 election as “spineless morons.”
Apparently, judging Trump is bad, but judging people who don’t support him is OK.
Throughout his tenure as the standard-bearer of the Christian values that so-called leaders of the evangelical community claim to hold, Donald Trump has been heralded as:
- The most “godly, biblical president” America has had or ever will have
- God’s man for such a time as this
- The last chance to save America
- The most pro-life president in history
- The Son of Man – The Christ
Heading into the 2026 midterms, however, it would appear that the cult-like worship of Donald Trump and Trumpist Republicans isn’t having the effect evangelicals were hoping for as faith leaders are sounding the alarm that “Christians” may not turn out on November 3 (via Latin Times):
With fewer than [two] weeks until Election Day on November 3, the Republican Party is confronting a mounting anxiety at the heart of its electoral strategy: the voters it depends on most may not feel compelled to show up. White evangelical Christians, who form the bedrock of the GOP coalition, are displaying the kind of tepid enthusiasm that has historically cost the president’s party seats in off-year contests — and conservative faith leaders are speaking out.
With fuel and grocery prices elevated, the president’s approval rating underwater, and Republican enthusiasm described as tepid, the 2026 cycle is shaping up as a test of whether white evangelicals retain enough confidence in the GOP to vote in force. Unlike in many democracies, casting a ballot in the United States is voluntary, and when economic pressures weigh on working families, the calculus of spending hours at a polling place can shift. Faith leaders who once could reliably mobilize their congregations on cultural issues alone now contend with a base that is also measuring its gas bill against its political commitment. (Emphasis mine)
So, what’s a charlatan to do when the cheap grace gospel that they’ve been preaching to defend Donald Trump and his army of Trumpist Republicans fails to deliver the results they wanted? If you’re the Fellowship of the Pharisees, you recycle another gospel that’s equally false and just as dead … the prosperity gospel. After all, the love of money may be the root of all evil, but in the world of the Pharisee of the Pharisees, it comes in pretty handy when you’re trying to win an election for immoral candidates running for office.
It’s been tried before. During the 2024 presidential election, Bob Vander Plaats accused Christians of being biblically illiterate for not voting for Trump, and Eric Metaxas accused them of being deceived by a “satanic lie.” Meanwhile, friends of the Fellowship of the Pharisees in the faux-conservative media kept themselves busy by recycling Trump’s “greatest economy in history” rhetoric as the primary reason to vote for him despite his lack of moral character.
Of course, Trump’s “greatest economy” talking point and his current proclamations about America’s “Golden Age” remain the most commonly told lies. The economic struggles that America experienced following the 2020 election were the result of his tariffs, trade wars, and his response to COVID — a reality made even worse under Trump 2.0. We should also remember the impact his unconstitutional war in Iran is having on the economy as well.
However, it should be noted that the Mussolini-styled fascism that has become standard operating procedure since Trump’s reelection along with the money-making-scheme he devised to use the national debt as a way to pocket billions for himself and his family has created a “Golden Age” of sorts for himself and everyone bearing the name of Trump.
But let’s put lies about the economy aside for a moment. When evangelicals compromise their values in exchange for mammon under the belief that money can cover Republicans’ sins, they have essentially transformed Washington into the city of Laodicea, and evangelical churches into the Laodicean church.
In the Book of Revelation 3:15-17, we see how this is true (The Message translation):
“I know you inside and out and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant. You make me want to vomit. You brag, ‘I’m rich, I’ve got it made, I need nothing from anyone,’ oblivious that in fact you’re a pitiful, blind beggar, threadbare and homeless.” (Emphasis mine)
This isn’t about Trump and Trumpist Republicans; it’s about the hypocrisy and moral compromise of evangelicals in exchange for political power. Due to their failure to hold Trump accountable for his complete lack of character — along with excusing it when it’s openly displayed — the Fellowship of the Pharisees and the evangelicals who follow them have effectively and permanently removed character and integrity as criteria for getting out to vote.
During the rise of Nazi Germany, Dietrich Bonhoeffer rebuked the church for refusing to call evil by name and for preaching the gospel of cheap grace — defined by Bonhoeffer as forgiveness without repentance — and I’ve documented the frightening similarities between today’s American church today and the church of Nazi Germany.
As I explain in my book, The New Axis of Evil: Exposing the Bipartisan War on Liberty, biblically illiterate and/or ignorant evangelicals have rejected G.O.D. and replaced him with the G.O.P., resulting in a loss of liberty and the rejection of any criticism of the immoral behavior of Donald Trump and the Republican Party.
Despite the worn-out talking points parroted by evangelicals, presidents and members of Congress aren’t appointed by God; they are elected by individuals exercising their free will to vote . . . or not vote.
To the evangelicals reading this post, let me remind you that God will stop the spread of cheap grace, and he will shake the things that can be shaken to expose the men and women who are destroying the testimony of the church. Scripture promises that the leaders spreading cheap grace will be removed from their self-centered, politically motivated positions of power:
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. II Peter 2:1-3 (Emphasis mine)
As I recently wrote, we need to see more serpent and less dove from “Christians” who vote in November. Lukewarm cheap grace evangelicals are dangerously and eternally wrong to think money and a healthy economy (if we ever see one again) are all we need to consider when voting in 2026. To put it simply, America needs more than a healthy bank account to be great again.
The Church of Laodicea needs revival and a return to moral character, beginning with evangelicals themselves and reaching to the leaders and politicians they vote for.
