NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio mandates vaccine passports
In another demonstration of what the new “normal” and coronavirus tyranny looks like, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio issued an order yesterday that mandates proof of vaccination compliance in order to patronize restaurants, gyms, theatres, and other indoor venues as a condition of entry.
Yesterday, I wrote about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo taking steps towards making vaccine passports mandatory for the citizens of his state by urging private businesses to adopt “vaccine-only admission” policies and allow entry only to customers who verify their vaccination status.
So, it comes as little surprise to see NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio take up Cuomo’s mantle by mandating vaccine passports in the Big Apple (via National Review):
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the mandate Tuesday morning. As part of the new program, New York City is launching a health pass called the “Key to NYC Pass” for both employees and patrons to present verification of vaccination at restaurants, concert halls, and a number of other recreational facilities.
“If you want to participate in our society fully, you’ve got to get vaccinated,” de Blasio said at the Tuesday press conference.
The policy, effective later this month, models the health pass system already implemented in parts of Europe, which allows vaccinated individuals special access to certain indoor settings. In France, the mandate triggered protests across the country calling for freedom from invasive government intervention. While France’s version requires proof of vaccination or a recent negative test result, NYC’s system does not allow an option for testing.
“We think it is so important to make clear that if you are vaccinated, you get to benefit in all sorts of ways,” the mayor said Monday during an interview on NY1. “You get to live a better life. Besides your health in general, you get to participate in many, many things. And if you’re unvaccinated, they are going to be fewer and fewer things that you’re able to do.” (emphasis mine)
We’ve known all along where coronavirus tyranny was heading; government-mandated vaccinations and vaccine passports on the national level.
Just last week, Joe Biden’s CDC director, Rochelle Walensky, said in a CNN interview that government-mandated COVID vaccine passports are “the path forward” to giving a small piece of liberty back to the American people.
In the interview, Walensky suggested that a health pass system allowing special access to certain venues for vaccinated individuals like the systems already being used in France and Italy could be adopted in the United States.
When specifically asked whether the CDC might consider implementing some sort of vaccine passport mandate, which could provide admission to places like a disco, restaurant, or sporting event, Walensky replied, “I think some communities are doing that and that may very well be a path forward.” (emphasis mine)
The CDC director also echoed Joe Biden’s talking points that unvaccinated people account for the majority of new cases in the United States and that 95 percent of newly hospitalized COVID-19 patients have not received the shot.
“This is a situation that has been created by transmission of the delta virus among people who are unvaccinated. This is not about who needs to take responsibility…We put this guidance out because the science demonstrates that if you are vaccinated you could potentially give the disease to someone else and that was the motivation for this,” she said. As I have said many times in the past, it’s easy to see where this is leading; not only in New York, but nationwide once Washington launches vaccine passports on the national level (via Reason.com):
“The Biden administration and private companies are working to develop a standard way of handling credentials — often referred to as ‘vaccine passports’ — that would allow Americans to prove they have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus as businesses try to reopen,” The Washington Post reported. (emphasis mine)
Vaccine passports have very little to do with safety, and everything to do with opening the door to giving the government the ability to regulate every aspect of our lives via a social credit system.
Tech industry experts tell us that the digital platform used to support vaccine passports is the same platform used in China’s “social credit system.“ Some of the areas tracked in real time by China’s “social credit system” are (via New Horizons):
- Medical history
- Social media posts and internet search history
- Bank accounts and credit cards
- Residence, employment, and criminal history
- Relationships and religious activities
- Political activity
This information is fed to a central database to create a “social credit score” to be used to reward or punish citizens. Those with a high score are able to participate freely in society while those with a low score are prohibited from traveling, borrowing money, keep a job, or even get their children into school.
While the far-left et al. claim vaccine passports will only be used to track COVID compliance, know that a social credit system can easily be created since both tracking systems use the same platform.
Something to remember as we witness Joe Biden, Andrew Cuomo, Bill de Blasio, and other tyrants across America issue vaccine passport mandates in the name of “safety.”
