We need revolution, not resolutions, to reclaim liberty in America!
With 2025 in the rear-view mirror and the road ahead pointing us to 2026, nefarious actors in both political parties continue to be focused on finding ways to destroy liberty in America. In the past, we have often made New Year’s resolutions to defend our great republic against the Republican/Democrat duopoly, but that’s simply not enough any longer — what we need now is a revolution.
Resolutions, much like the wild grasses that are here today and are burned in the ovens tomorrow (Matt. 6:30), rarely last beyond the first few days of the new year. In fact, the second Friday of January (this year, it falls on January 9) is now known as “Quitter’s Day” because most people will have abandoned their New Year’s resolutions by then.
Based on the Latin word revolutio, the word revolution literally means “a turn around.” A fitting choice of words considering that the only chance we have of saving liberty in America will require a turnaround from the direction Washington is taking us. However, unlike resolutions, a revolution can’t be something we give up on in a few days. Instead, a revolution requires effort, planning, dedication — and then more effort.
Revolutions should never a one-and-done situation. Revolutions are sometimes messy, but almost always necessary to bring about the change we need when government is leading us down the wrong road:
I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. … It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government. ~ Thomas Jefferson letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787
A great change is at hand, and our task, our obligation, is to make that revolution, that change, peaceful and constructive for all. ~ John F. Kennedy Civil Rights address, June 11, 1963
It’s healthy to reflect on the past year and make preparations for the new year, but after reflection, we need to go beyond empty, meaningless resolutions and prepare for rebellion and revolution.
Following the presidencies of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and Donald Trump 2.0, America finds herself today living in what can only be described as a defacto police state, a situation that has only grown worse since Trump moved back into the White House under the guise of fixing the immigration problem and rebuilding our broken economy (via Mises Wire):
One of the most common justifications for increasing state police and military power is that it guarantees the security of citizens. Without basic security, it is impossible for people to devote themselves to the pursuit of their social and economic goals. In the US there are proposals to send in the military to help enforce a crackdown on illegal immigration. In the UK, some police stations have proposed to send armed police patrols to Christmas markets, to keep traders and shoppers safe from terrorists. Yet it is less often recognized that the police state, which may be defined as “an enormous government apparatus of prisons, prosecutors, police, and bureaucrats,” is inimical to economic liberty. (Emphasis mine)
Rebellion and revolution against Trump and the Republican Party is absolutely necessary considering the fact that we are seeing a repeat of 2016 when he pretended to care about immigration and the economy to get into office and then reneged on his promises to begin building his police state.
For example, a few weeks after the 2024 election I wrote about Trump backing off of his promise to deal with illegal immigration — just as he did during his first term — when he announced that he would “work with Democrats to protect DREAMers from deportation” in an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker where she asked Trump about his plans to deport millions of undocumented people residing in the United States.
Welker asked Trump, “What about the Dreamers?” At first, Trump responded vaguely, “The Dreamers are going to come later, and we have to do something about the Dreamers.” As Welker pushed for a more specific answer, Trump said, “I will work with the Democrats on a plan…but the Democrats have made it very difficult.”
“Do you want them to stay?” Welker asked. “I do,” Trump responded. “I want to work something out.” Trump went on to say that “Republicans are very open to the Dreamers.” (Emphasis mine)
However, Trump reversed his position again when he announced that he would use the border crisis an opportunity to declare a national emergency and use the military as a national police force to make way for a defacto declaration of martial law.
Trump has also revived another one of his 2016 agenda items concerning immigration (specifically, border security) with his biometric digital ID mandates. We have been told by Washington that these biometric digital IDs will only be used to control the border, but the technology used to create them can also be used to give government control over economic activity. The crypto currency scheme launched by Trump along with a biometric digital ID card makes a China-inspired social credit system a done deal.
Let’s also keep in mind that Donald Trump considers crypto currency to be the answer to solving the national debt while conveniently leaving out the millions of dollars he will make. Jordan Libowitz, a spokesperson for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) predicted that Trump will eventually have the unlimited power to impact crypto policy, thus cashing-in on his investment in the industry regardless of the best interests of the country.
Donald Trump has established himself as a man with little understanding and/or a complete disregard of the Constitution, yet the man currently occupying the White House (what’s left of it after demolishing the East Wing) remains an adversary of basic rights like Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Speech, the right to Due Process, and the Second Amendment and will, quite likely, continue to ignore our God-given rights and his responsibility to “protect and defend” them as he is sworn to do — as he continues to build his ever-expanding surveillance state.
So, as we make plans for the new year, let’s take a pass on making any resolutions and commit ourselves to roll up our sleeves, stand firm, and prepare fight a revolution to restore the Constitutional Republic created by the Founding Fathers — not only for ourselves, but for those who will follow in our footsteps.
Only then can 2026 be a truly Happy New Year.
