Trump rules America like Emperor Palpatine ruled the Galactic Empire
Forget about “King Trump” and make way for Emperor Trump. After seizing control Venezuela over the holidays, we are now witnessing an agenda aimed at complete control of the Western Hemisphere, much like Emperor Palpatine created and ruled over the Galactic Empire in the sci-fi Star Wars movies.
In an interview with Jake Tapper, the host of CNN’s The Lead, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller brazenly declared Trump’s empirical ambitions (via TheHill.com):
“What the president said is true. The United States of America is running Venezuela. By definition, that’s true. We live in a world in which, you can talk about international niceties and everything else, but we live in a world, in the real world … that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power. These are the iron laws of the world since the beginning of time.”
After Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were taken into custody Saturday, Trump told reporters that the U.S. will “run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition,” adding that American oil companies will take control of Venezuela’s petroleum infrastructure. (Emphasis mine)
For good measure, Miller also assured Tapper that Trump’s plan to seize control of Greenland is next on the agenda, and that when the time comes, America won’t have to worry about any military action being taken to block the takeover (via TheHill.com)
In [the] interview, the top White House adviser reaffirmed the “formal position of the U.S. government” that “Greenland should be part of the United States” and brushed off questions about the potential for military actions against the semiautonomous Danish territory.
“The United States should have Greenland as part of the United States. There’s no need to even think or talk about this in the context that you’re asking, of a military operation,” Miller told CNN’s Jake Tapper, who asked repeatedly if Miller would rule out military action against Greenland.
“Nobody’s going to fight the United States militarily over the future of Greenland.” (Emphasis mine)
Trump’s desire to become Emperor of an American Empire has even been confirmed by none other than one of the Con., Inc. talking heads at the pro-Trump echo chamber known as BlazeTV, Steve Deace, who said in a post on X:
Don’t tell anyone, but we’ve been a de facto benevolent empire since the Northwest Ordinance. And almost all our our greatest achievements as a nation — westward expansion, manifest destiny, North winning civil war, Industrial Revolution, defeating Japs and Nazis, putting first man on the moon, defeating Soviet Empire in Cold War, etc. — are the result of a desire to grow our influence in the world from the inside out, not retreat from the outside in (or giveaway our homeland and national interests to foreigners/foreign interests as we’ve been traitorously doing since 9/11).
Nothing is more America First than an American (benevolent) Empire. Trump gets it. We are massively, existentially, and irreconcilably in debt. Nobody around here is all that eager to cut back, or voting to be the generation that takes the hit. Okay, fine. So that means we’re gonna have to grow, or die.
Well, few things grow you more than $17 trillion in new oil reserves! What did you think the Greenland stuff this time last year was about? We’re gonna have aggressive expansion. (Emphasis mine)
The parallels between how Donald Trump rules America and how Emperor Palpatine ruled the Galactic Empire are unmistakable. In his speech to the Galactic Senate where he declared himself Emperor of a New Order, Palpatine used words much like what we’ve been hearing from Trump, Miller, and Deace from the beginning of his presidency until now (via StarwarsFandom.com):
We stand on the threshold of a new beginning. In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire, for a safe and secure society, which I assure you will last for ten thousand years. An Empire that will continue to be ruled by this august body and a sovereign ruler chosen for life. An Empire ruled by the majority, ruled by a new constitution!
By bringing the entire galaxy under one law, one language, and the enlightened guidance of one individual, the corruption that plagued the Republic in its later years will never take root. Regional governors will eliminate the bureaucracy that allowed the Separatist movement to grow unchecked. A strong and growing military will ensure the rule of law.
Under the Empire’s New Order, our most cherished beliefs will be safeguarded. We will defend our ideals by force of arms. We will give no ground to our enemies and will stand together against attacks from within or without. Let the enemies of the Empire take heed: those who challenge Imperial resolve will be crushed.
We have taken on a task that will be difficult, but the people of the Empire are ready for the challenge. Because of our efforts, the galaxy has traded war for peace and anarchy for stability. Billions of beings now look forward to a secure future. The Empire will grow as more planets feel the call, from the Rim to the wilds of unknown space.
Imperial citizens must do their part. Join our grand star fleet. Become the eyes of the Empire by reporting suspected insurrectionists. Travel to the corners of the galaxy to spread the principles of the New Order to barbarians. Build monuments and technical wonders that will speak of our glory for generations to come.
The New Order of peace has triumphed over the shadowy secrecy of shameful magicians. The direction of our course is clear. I will lead the Empire to glories beyond imagining. (Emphasis mine)
In Star Wars II – The Attack of the Clones, the Emergency Powers Act or EPA was an amendment to the Galactic Constitution that among other things, granted “temporary powers” for chancellors to make instant decisions without the need for full senate approval, giving Palpatine all necessary authority to attempt to end the Separatist Crisis, including declaration of martial law on local systems.
The powers granted to Palpatine gave him open-ended authority for the duration of the emergency, however, Palpatine himself was the only person who had the authority to declare when the emergency was over. Since his intention was to never relinquish power, the emergency never ended, and Palpatine’s power increased to the point that he eventually dissolved the Republic and replaced it with the Galactic Empire.
On that day, the senate cheered, prompting Senator Padmé Amidala to utter these infamous words:
“So, this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.”
*Disclaimer: Any similarities between the Galactic Senate and the Republican Party are purely coincidental.
Totalitarianism is a political system comprising commitment to a single goal, with use of violence by official forces on a large scale, suppression of opposing organizations or movements, and enforcement of total public participation toward the achievement of the single goal. Totalitarian parties gain power by means of ruthlessness, intimidation, and disinformation. And they keep power the same way.
Sounds a lot like how Donald Trump rules America, and it sounds a lot like how Emperor Palpatine ruled the Galactic Empire.
