Will Trump or Cruz reverse Obama’s anti-Israel policies?

AmericaIsraelFrom his earliest days a president–when he toured the world embracing Islam while apologizing for America–Barack Hussein Obama made his disdain for the nation of Israel clear for the world to see; his presidency filled to the brim with policies hostile to the land of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Early in his presidency, Obama called for Israel to return to pre-1967 borders in support of the Palestinian demand for the so-called two-state solution. Shortly after this policy was announced, the White House refused to acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel; refusing to even mention the word so as not to offend Muslims.

In the days leading up the insane Iran Nuke deal last year–Iran is committed to the annihilation of Israel don’t forget–Obama refused to appear with Benjamin Netanyahu during a U.S. visit to speak at a joint session of Congress. Following this obvious snub, Obama sent members of his 2012 campaign to Israel–using U.S. taxpayer funds–to influence Netanyahu’s re-election in hopes of electing Bibi’s second state supporting opponent.

While his effort to shape Israel in his pro-Muslim image has met with limited success, he continues to make the effort during the waning days of his presidency.

In a speech last week, “Uncle” Joe Biden expressed the administration’s “overwhelming frustration” with Israel:

“I firmly believe that the actions that Israel’s government has taken over the past the past several years — the steady and systematic expansion of settlements, the legalization of outposts, land seizures — they’re moving us and more importantly they’re moving Israel in the wrong direction.”

I mean, really. How dare a sovereign nation actually act like they have a right to build a country.

As we approach the home stretch of the Republican primary season, we need to wonder how Donald Trump or Ted Cruz would repair the damage done to our closest ally in the region.

Donald Trump has expressed his support for the failed two-state solution while refusing to give his full support to Israel stating that he would remain “neutral” in any negotiations in order to “negotiate a deal” — a position that he recently reversed after negative reaction from both parties. He recently recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital after saying he wouldn’t just a few months ago, and he gave a non-specific commitment to move the U.S. embassy to the new capital.

Meanwhile, Ted Cruz recently released a statement in response to the Obama administration’s claim that Israel is moving in the wrong direction:

“The government of Israel reiterated the reality that the Golan Heights are part of Israel”s sovereign territory. Given the presence of hostile terrorist organizations ranging from ISIS to Hezbollah on Israel”s northern border, it is foolhardy and dangerous for elements in the international community to try to pressure Israel to abandon the Golan to the chaos engulfing Syria. The path to peace cannot involve Israel”s abdication of its own security.”

Cruz is also committed to recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and he will begin moving the U.S. embassy to the new capital on the first day, a position he has always held.

Looks like the answer to the question about who will repair the damage Obama has done to Israel is clear.
