What Do The Amish And Unions Have In Common?

Answer: Neither one of them will be subject to the Obamacare hijacking of America’s healthcare system.

As another series of “transparent” meetings came to an end last week (transparently held behind closed doors – off limits to the media and the general public), members of Congress announced that the Amish will not be required to comply with the mandates contained in the legislation under a “religious conscience” objection.

Congressional aides said the exemption is based on a carve-out the Amish have had from Social Security and Medicare taxes since the 1960s. Whether Amish businesses, however, would fall under the bill’s mandates is still an open question.

Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., who was a key negotiator on the Senate bill, supports the religious exemption, said spokesman Maxwell Young, who called the provision a “no brainer.”

Is it just me, or did anyone else catch the irony of Chucky using the phrase “no brainer” when explaining his vote? Doesn’t that describe every vote that comes from the senior Senator from NY?

In addition to the Amish exemption, the White House rolled up their sleeves for some tough negotiations with union leaders who objected over the tax on so-called “Cadillac” insurance plans. After several rounds of hard fought compromises, the messiah let the world see who the real boss is when he exempted most of America’s unions from the tax until after 2017.

Way to show ’em who’s boss, Barry! No “business-as-usual” political payback in your administration, huh? By the way, is it just a coincidence that the exemption expires after you have completed a presumed second term?

Of course, the Organizer-in-Chief has been in cohorts with unions his whole career. In an S.E.I.U. speech, candidate Obama admitted that his agenda and there agenda are the same (about the 3:15 mark is where he admits union influence on healthcare):

Of course, it should be remembered that America needed the revenue from this tax to lower the deficit and keep Obamacare under budget. Do you think that explains the new tax on bank profits that was announced last week? Naw, that’s probably more coincidental timing, I’m sure.

So relax, if you’re Amish or a member of S.E.I.U., you get to continue exercising your freedom of choice when it comes to healthcare. If you’re anybody else, Dr. Obama says, “bend over – this won’t hurt a bit.”

Hmmmmm…. I wonder how hard it is to convert to the Amish religion.
