UC Berkeley students: Campus abortion clinic will improve academics

Abortion - UC BerkelyIn all of America, one of the easiest places to murder your unborn baby is California. Heck, you don’t even have to be a doctor to perform abortions in the first trimester. But for a group of students attending the University of California – Berkeley, it’s still not easy enough.

Aanchal Chugh–a sophomore and self-described activist advancing the LGBTQ agenda–is a member of the Senate representing California Students for Equal Rights and a Valid Education (Cal-SERVE) with the slogan “in a nutshell: womxn empowerment” (Chugh intentionally uses the letter x to avoid the word “man” or “men”).

Chugh is leading a group of students demanding an on-campus abortion clinic. In an interview with a local TV station, she provided her rationale:

“We feel that student health is something the administration has not been focused on. And it’s important for students to do well academically.”

Gee, I guess those Arguing with Judge Judy, Searching for Extraterrestrial Intelligence and History of Weaving classes are tougher to ace than most people realize.

A few students–very few–saw this proposal exactly for what it is: essentially one more way for students to be sexually promiscuous without suffering any personal consequences while having the school subsidize it.

Chugh responded to this criticism on her Facebook page:

[For] “those who are condemning my bill because it’s ‘immoral’ — having the right to live a healthy life is NOT immoral and every student should have access to safe and accessible abortions; especially because being a student at Cal is already so demanding.”

I just hope she doesn’t let this distraction get in the way of much bigger issues like coming up with new genders for the UC’s admissions application. They only have six so far, after all.

Correction: In my audio commentary I stated that Chugh was running for Senate, but she is already a member.
