One of the most frustrating things about Obama during his eight years in office was how he manipulated economic numbers to make it look like his policies were working. From unemployment to jobs created, Obama turned the manipulation of data and events into an art form.

Last month, Trump took credit for saving the Ford Motor Co. plant in Louisville, KY from being shut down and moved to Mexico. However, a statement issued by the company after Trump’s tweet clarified that Ford wasn’t planning on closing the plant or eliminating any jobs.
Earlier this month, Fiat-Chrysler announced a $1 billion expansion of its plants in Michigan and Ohio, a move expected to create approximately 2,000 jobs. Trump took credit, even though the plan was negotiated during contract talks in 2015 with the United Auto Workers union.

After a Twitter rant against General Motors earlier this month where Trump inaccurately criticized GM for a decision to make the Chevy Cruze in Mexico–threatening them with a 35% border tax if they did so–GM announced that they will invest $1 billion in U.S. plants over several years, and create about 1000 jobs at several facilities across America.

Even though the investment by GM had been made well before Trump’s tweet, Trump took credit for the non-event by reminding his followers of how he is single-handedly saving the economy even before he takes office.
