Trump and GOP bail out Obamacare to prepare for single-payer

Shortly after the 115th Congress was sworn in earlier this year, the Republican party went to work devising a scheme designed to give the appearance that they would repeal Obamacare while actually doing the opposite.

One of the GOP cowards put in charge of this betrayal to the American people was Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Chairman Lamar Alexander who made the GOP’s intentions crystal clear to anyone paying attention when he said, “Our goal is to repair the damage caused by Obamacare.”

This subtle re-branding of the GOP promise to repeal Obamacare “root and branch” is how we ended up with the Repeal-In-Name-Only agenda that hijacked any serious effort to bring an end to Obamacare and the single-payer healthcare system it was designed to eventually become. Now, with the charade of repealing Obamacare in their review mirror, the GOP has returned to its original intentions.

Following Trump’s conveniently timed decision to end Obamacare subsidies without a plan to deal with the repercussions, Alexander teamed up with the GOP’s favorite Democrat whenever they are about to break a campaign promise on a major issue (see 2013 Budget Act), Sen. Patty Murray (WA). Together, Alexander and Murray have created a bailout bill that will “repair” the damage done to Obamacare following Trump’s executive order.

Shortly after the 2016 election, Trump stated in a 60 Minutes interview that he wanted to keep the “good parts” of Obamacare. With that in mind, is it possible that this bailout was a part of Trump’s plan all along? That would appear to be the case based on recent comments made by the NY liberal. Speaking before the media yesterday, Trump called the Alexander/Murray bailout a “good short-term solution.”

“Short-term solution.”  That’s Washington politispeak for “Let’s kick the can down the road until after the mid-term elections, at which time, with the heat off, we can figure out how we’re going to cover our lies to the American people.”

The GOP clearly had no intention of repealing Obamacare, and Trump has always favored single-payer healthcare. If the Alexander/Murray Obamacare bailout becomes law, it will make it easier for Trump to introduce a hybrid version of single-payer healthcare–a deceptive plan that will give us government-run healthcare disguised as free-market healthcare because it uses taxpayer-subsidized insurance companies as the middleman.

Despite claims to the contrary, this was the plan Trump and the GOP had all along.
