Trump’s narcissistic attack on Sessions is no surprise

Donald Trump’s textbook narcissism has been on full display over the past few weeks as he targets members of his administration for termination due to a so-called lack of loyalty. As is often the case with individuals suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder, their incessant need for the adulation and adoration from others blinds them from being able to recognize their enemies and their allies.

One such example of this conflict has been obvious to all but the most ardent members of the Trump cult—i.e., the folks who would support him even if he murdered someone—when he targeted Jeff Sessions to be thrown under the bus due to Trump’s ego-driven stupidity.

Following a week’s worth of tweets, Trump has made his desire crystal clear—he wants Jeff Sessions gone.

In a recent interview with Hugh Hewitt, Trump’s desire to axe Sessions was confirmed by the newest member to join the White House mob, Communications Director and former Hillary supporter, Anthony Scaramucci.

While it’s totally Trump’s prerogative to terminate Sessions at will, it would be wrong to do so for several reasons. Here are just a few:

  1. Sessions is on Trump’s side. He was one of the first sitting Senators to support him during the primaries, and he’s been instrumental in advancing Trump’s immigration policies.
  2. While Trump claims that Sessions is failing to do his job by not perusing Hillary’s email scandals, it was Trump who put the kibosh on the matter just weeks after winning the election.
  3. Terminating Sessions would give the appearance of an attempt by Trump to kill the Russian investigation. Trump only mentions Hillary’s emails when he starts to feel the heat from the investigation which makes this nothing more than a ploy to change the subject while manufacturing a fake reason to terminate sessions.

The hypocrisy, if not insanity, of Trump’s attacks on Sessions has even garnered the wrath of Trump Pravda—a.k.a. Breitbart.com.

“President Trump’s decision Tuesday to attack Attorney General Jeff Sessions over Sessions’ ‘position’ on Hillary Clinton’s various scandals only serves to highlight Trump’s own hypocrisy on the issue.

“Sessions represents one of the vital pillars of Trump’s immigration agenda. Sessions has fought in the trenches for a tough line on immigration for years, back when Trump was pouring money into the campaign coffers of Democrats who wanted to open up America’s borders.”

Additionally, Trump sycophants and former conservatives Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich disagree with these attacks, and it is also being given as a reason for the news of a possible resignation of another Trump target, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

I wrote in an article last week about how Trump and the GOP are exactly who we thought they were, so none of this behavior should really be a surprise.
