Trump and the GOP a.k.a. Harvey Two-Face and friends

While it’s not my favorite Batman movie, in Batman Forever, Tommy Lee Jones portrays the supervillain Harvey Two-Face, a man obsessed with duality and who believes right and wrong doesn’t matter as everything is ruled by chance. This psychosis leads to highly unpredictable behavior as he makes decisions concerning good and evil based on the flip of a coin.

In the beginning of the movie, we are introduced to the mindset of Two-Face in a scene between the villain and his prisoner.

Two-Face: You’re counting on the winged avenger to deliver you from evil, aren’t you, my friend?

Bank Guard: Are you gonna kill me?

Two-Face: Maybe, maybe not. You could say we’re of two minds on the subject. Are you a gambling man? What say we flip for it?

Trump’s two-faced leadership style has been on display from the very beginning, but this week his schizophrenia was taken to new levels as he took both sides on several issues.

First, there was the televised meeting Trump held with members of Congress where he literally took two sides on the DACA issue. Within minutes, Trump supported a stand-alone bill for DACA suggested by Sen. Dianne Feinstein and then immediately opposed it after Rep. Kevin McCarthy pointed out to him that such a bill would be contrary to his previous position on the issue.

Of course, the fact that Trump committed to keep DACA is a contradiction to his campaign promise to rescind it, which we now know was a lie in the first place.

By the way, Trump changed his mind AGAIN on DACA yesterday.

Next, as the House was preparing to vote on voiding the Fourth Amendment yesterday by reauthorizing FISA 702, a bill that makes it easier for the government to spy on Americans without a warrant, Trump sent out a Tweet opposing the idea—although, for highly personal reasons.

After receiving heat for sending out the contradicting message, Trump flipped the coin, changed his mind, and tweeted his support of the liberty-killing legislation.

In the movie, Two-Face needed help against his battle against law and order, and he found it in The Riddler, the chosen alias of Edward “E” Nygma. In the same manner, Trump teamed up with the enigma we call the GOP-controlled Congress. In typical but inexplicable fashion, the Trumplican Party is hard at work creating a bill to save DACA, and yesterday the House passed FISA 702 without adding necessary amendments to protect our rights.

In Batman Forever, Two-Face and The Riddler are eventually defeated. Hopefully, we’ll see the Trumplican Party agenda defeated as well by a conservative uprising.
