Trump and GOP join forces with Democrats to disarm America

As a candidate for president, Donald Trump proved to be anything but conservative with his frequent displays with his evangelical-supported moral relativism. As a man completely void of any core convictions, Trump habitually took his cue on policy issues from whatever direction the political winds blew.

This double-mindedness on the part of the New York liberal was evident in the aftermath of the mass murder and wounding of over 100 people at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida in 2016. Even though that incident was tied to ISIS and radical Islam, Democrats seized the tragedy as an opportunity to pass laws attacking the Second Amendment, and Donald Trump—with Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan—jumped on the anti-gun bandwagon calling for “serious suggestions on gun control.”

Fast-forward to today. In the aftermath of the shooting at a Florida High School earlier this month, Democrats are once again seizing a tragedy as an opportunity to pass laws attacking the Second Amendment. As was the case after Orlando, Trump is joining with the Democrats, and while McConnell and Ryan have been silent this time around, so-called conservatives like Marco Rubio are joining Trump.

Since the Florida tragedy, Trump has openly advocated several Democrat-friendly anti-gun measures, including: raising the age to 21 to buy a rifle (a goal of Dianne Feinstein), expanding background checks (a top priority of Chuck Schumer), and banning bump stocks “with or without” Congress (ala Barack Obama).

Trump’s proposals could just be the tip of the iceberg. For example, Democrats in the House have introduced legislation to absolutely ban certain types of weapons, an idea supported by Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL).

Unfortunately, a generation of Constitutionally immature and/or ignorant youth are being used as pawns in the gun debate. Calling their demands to pass anti-gun laws a “generational thing,” high school students are demanding limitations on the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Equally disturbing is new polling showing that huge majorities support for additional gun-control laws across the board, along with majority support for a complete ban of certain weapons.

When you take Trump’s ambiguous character and mix it with the unibrow politicians in Congress in today’s anti-gun climate, the future of the Second Amendment isn’t looking too good.
