Trudeau and Obama use revisionist history to praise Castro

Much to the vexation of Colin Kaepernick, there is one less Communist, murdering dictator in the world today after the death of Fidel Castro over the weekend. This is great news to those who believe in the God-given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness–rights that have been denied the citizens of Cuba under the oppressive rule of Castro’s iron-fisted dictatorship.

Under Castro’s genocidal regime, thousands of innocent people were executed by his infamous “paredón” (thick wall) firing squads trained and motivated by Castro’s right-hand man, Che Guevara, whose image can be found across Cuba, not to mention the t-shirts of ignorant college students around the world. In the early 1960s, Castro was instrumental in creating the nuclear confrontation between Washington and Moscow (Cuban Missile Crisis) and admitted to holding over 20,000 political prisoners. Even today, thousands of political prisoners are still being held in Cuban prisons.

Despite these and a myriad of other atrocities committed by Fidel Castro, he is still romanticized by leftist around the world.

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, used his Twitter account to express his condolences where he shared the following:

“While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for “el Comandante”.

“I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba.

“On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and many, many supporters of Mr. Castro. We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader.”

Controversial figure? Is that what they call murdering dictators in The Great White North? But the Prime Minister wasn’t the only leader of a North American country to praise Castro. In an official statement over the weekend Obama shared his thoughts on Castro’s death:

“History will record and judge the enormous impact of this singular figure on the people and world around him.”

Obama concluded with a comment bragging about how his administration worked to build a future with Cuba “built on those things that were (held) in common.” Have you ever wondered what a free republic has in common with Communism? Yeah, me too.

Meanwhile, Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Marco Rubio, former GOP candidates for president and the sons of Cuban parents, had a much different take on the abhorrent praise of the Cuban dictator by Trudeau and Obama, calling their comments “disgraceful,” “shameful,” and “embarrassing.”

Charles Finney, the leader of the Second Great Awakening in the United States, once wrote that even though God doesn’t rejoice in the death of evil people, He does rejoice in the results which accrue from their death, such as justice and the reality of the consequences of sin–a fact confirmed in Scripture:

When the Righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.” (Proverbs 11:10)

Fidel Castro is dead. It’s not the time to rewrite history by turning him into a hero. It’s time to throw a party!
