Cities across America have been adopting ordinances that protect their citizens from the steady spread of Shariah law, but not in Seattle. Mayor Ed Murray “wants to help Muslims” attain home ownership by offering Shariah-compliant loans.
Murray was concerned that Muslims weren’t buying enough homes in Seattle, so he formed a committee to investigate how to rectify the problem. One of the committee’s recommendations was to have banks offer “Shariah-compliant” mortgage loans for Seattle’s growing Muslim community, because they are forbidden under Sharia to pay interest on borrowed money.
While Progressives like the Seattle mayor don’t consider this such a big deal, the anti-Western and anti-American nature of Shariah law is troubling to say the least — primarily because of the true nature of Shariah and how it applies to every area of life, not just religious life.

- Dr. Andrew Bostom, author of Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims, contends that “Sharia-compliant mortgages, and all aspects of so-called Sharia-compliant finance, should be rejected because they are vehicles for the promulgation of Islamic law, an integrated religio-political system antithetical to our most fundamental Western freedoms.
And Pamela Geller, author of Stop the Islamization of America, is concerned that Americans are unaware of the fact that Sharia applies to all of life:
Shariah is unified whole — a guide to every aspect of human behavior. It doesn’t just involve interest and loans. The teachings of Islam regarding war against and subjugation of unbelievers is part of Shariah as well.
The mayor of Seattle is opening the door to Shariah, and because he has already shown himself to be compliant, he will receive more demands for accommodation of Shariah in the future. This is a radical, intolerant, violent, misogynistic, antisemitic ideology, and he should not be kowtowing to it.
Apparently, the mayor is unfazed by such analysis, as he has committed to send legislation to the Seattle City Council for consideration.
Which begs the question: where is the ACLU on this one? Isn’t a law passed by a government agency a clear violation of the non-existent “separation of church and state” clause in the Constitution? Why aren’t their lawyers lined up outside the courtrooms of America fighting this?
It will also be interesting to see if Mayor Ed Murray remains “pro-Shariah” when those new Muslim homeowners begin refusing to serve the LGBT crowd at their places of business — or throwing them off of buildings.
Sharia law is at war with the Constitution, and idiots like the mayor of Seattle are aiding and abetting the enemy.
