RINOs put America on the “fast track” to the end

Fast Track TPP

As I was preparing for today’s post, I was going to talk about how Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) had seen the light on Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and the “fast track” authority wanted by Obama. Alas, his change of heart was a bit too little, too late.

The RINO dominated Senate voted yesterday to give Obama the fast track authority he covets. His new authority authorizes him to negotiate massive trade deals without Congress, and restricts lawmakers from making any amendments to any treaty he presents. The only action Congress can take is a simple yes or no vote.

Opposition to this constitutional travesty was led by Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), who failed to muster enough no votes to keep it from passing, even with the change of heart displayed by Senator Cruz.

In an opinion piece published yesterday, Cruz explained his actions:

“TPA in this Congress has become enmeshed in corrupt Washington backroom deal-making, along with serious concerns that it would open up the potential for sweeping changes in our laws that trade agreements typically do not include.”

He added that “TPA’s progress through the House and Senate appears to have been made possible by secrets deals between Republican leadership and the Democrats.”

Sessions, who is a perfect display of the type of leadership we don’t see in cowards like Mitch McConnell, has led the charge in trying to stop TPA. Throughout his opposition, he has been most concerned about the creation of an international legal body much like the European Union, which would have nearly unlimited power to change U.S. law… ALL WITHOUT CONGRESS!

After the Senate voted to advance fast-track, Sessions issued a statement confirming his fear of such a body:

“Americans increasingly believe that their country isn’t serving its own citizens. They need look no further than (this) vote of Congress that will transfer congressional power to the Executive Branch and, in turn, to a transnational Pacific Union and the global interests who will help write its rules. (emphasis mine)

You can read his entire statement here.

I have consistently commented on some of the unintended consequences of TPA, including: the loss of our gun rights, the surrender of American sovereignty to the United Nations to “fix” global warming, and changes to immigration policy that will make Obama’s previous amnesty schemes look conservative by comparison. Thanks to the RINOs in D.C., those consequences are inevitable.

The spineless cowards passing themselves off as leaders of the Republican party have put the final nail in America’s coffin, so you should prepare your good-byes to liberty, the Constitution, and the America envisioned by the Founding Fathers.

Once Obama signs this piece of bovine fecal matter into law, it’s only a matter of time.
