Pusillanimous Pence defends Trump’s pro-LGBT actions

When Donald Trump selected Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana to be his vice president, even Conservatives not named Laura Ingraham considered the pick to be proof-positive that America would be spared from The Donald’s extensive history as a NY Liberal. In addition, evangelical Christians convinced themselves that Pence’s so-called “Christian conservatism” would make him the voice of reason in the new administration–pulling Trump to the “right” concerning issues important to people of faith. It also made it easier for Christians to ignore their consciences, and cast their vote for Trump.

Unfortunately, but not unexpectedly, Mike Pence has only succeeded in proving one thing: He’s a political opportunist interested only in his personal political fortunes. His faith, as I see it, is nothing more than a crutch of convenience used when he cripples himself with his compromising character, as we witnessed over the past weekend in his appearance on ABC’s This Week.

In his interview with George Stephanopoulos, Pusillanimous Pence went all in as he surrendered every vestige of whatever integrity he may have possessed prior to becoming the vice president. It began with Pence offering still another defense of Trump’s Twitter addiction after Prima Donald tweeted a personal attack against the judge who ruled against his recent Executive Order on immigration.

Gee, a personal attack on a judge who ruled against Trump. Why does that sound familiar?

Then the interview moved to topics important to Christians. After avoiding a question about Roe v. Wade and the Neil Gorsuch nomination, Pence defended Trump’s decision–actually, it was Ivanka’s–to let stand an Obama Executive Order purportedly issued to protect LGBT rights for employees of government contractors. In reality, the order legalizes discrimination against Christian business owners who would like to provide goods and services to the government, but not at the expense of compromising their religious beliefs.

“I think throughout the campaign, President Trump made it clear that discrimination would have no place in our administration. I mean, he was the very first Republican nominee to mention the LGBTQ community at our Republican National Convention and was applauded for it. And I was there applauding with him”

Of course, this cave on the pro-LGBT EO is par for the course for Pence. Nearly two years ago, then-Gov. Pence surrendered to the Gay Mafia when he destroyed the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act, effectively destroying religious freedom for Christian business owners. But that’s what you get from Pusillanimous Pence–a political opportunist masquerading as a Conservative Christian.

POSTSCRIPT: On Monday Pence defended Trump once again after an interview with Bill O’Reilly where Trump stated that America is just as murderous as Russia’s Vladimir Putin. Even McConnell and Company couldn’t defend that one.
