Orlando massacre had nothing to do with homophobia or guns

Pulse Nightclub LogoBy now, you’ve probably heard or read about the horrific shooting at a Orlando, FL. night club, where 50 people were killed and 50+ injured. The club, known as “Pulse” and which described itself as “the hottest gay bar in Orlando,” was a popular hangout for members of the LGBT community.

The Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the massacre carried out by 29-year-old Omar Mateen, a man of Afghan descent and a self-proclaimed loyalist to ISIS.

Of course, politicians with an agenda, along with their friends in the media, immediately began the spin machine as they attempted to move the discussion away from radical Islam by redirecting America’s outrage toward so-called homophobic and pro-Second Amendment Americans.

Within hours of the tragedy, Obama issued a statement on the shooting, even going as far as to use the word “terror” to describe it–though he didn’t use the words Islamic terror–before moving on to his agenda items. He mentioned that the deed was motivated by “hate”–an obvious inference of his desire to call this a hate crime instead of terrorism–and he concluded with a call to action for… wait for it… more gun control.

And as we all know: more gun control will bring an end to violence — just as we saw Memorial Day Weekend in the City of Chicago. Sadly, gun ownership and homophobia were targeted by a few others on the liberal left.

Alan Grayson–the progressive Democrat representing Florida’s 9th District, and a current candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Marco Rubio–seized on the “hate crime” rationale for the shooting when leveraged the tragedy as an assault on the LGBT community in an effort to boost his bumbling campaign.

Only hours after the shooting, the Florida League of Women Voters called for immediate action on new gun laws, saying that “Florida must be a leader NOW for necessary gun legislation.”

Hillary Clinton released a statement expressing her desire to see terrorism defeated–too bad she didn’t feel the same way in Benghazi–but echoed parts of Obama’s statement on her Twitter account about the hate crime motivation and the need for more gun control.

Of course this shooting was the result of hate; not of the LGBT community, but of all things non-Muslim. In addition to homosexuals, radical Islam kills artists for drawing pictures of Muhammad, beheads Christians for being Christian, and rapes and murders women and children. And let’s not forget their favorite pastime of crashing planes into buildings.

Tragic violence such as this massacre are almost too heartbreaking for words; which is why any attempt by self-interested politicians and their friends in the media is so reprehensible–including the inevitable “I was right” statement sure to come from the Donald Trump campaign. UPDATE: Well, that didn’t take long.

This slaughter of 50 lives didn’t happen because of so-called homophobia or pro-Second Amendment Americans. It happened because of the radical ideology of Islamic extremists hell-bent on destroying western civilization. If we don’t get back to this reality, the Orlando shooting will be small potatoes compared to what is to come.
