Staying true to his campaign promise of providing stimulus money to the entire economy, the savior of all things economic has announced his stimulus plan for his friends at the American Civil Liberties Union.
In a “bold” move meant to prove the “transparency” of his administration, Obama decided to release Top Secret memos regarding certain Central Intelligence Agency practices as it pertains to the treatment of terrorist captives. Of course, the fact that this move provided the anti-Bush left-wing extremists of his party more fodder for their various conspiracy theories was nothing more than a pleasant consequence.
Yet, regardless of his true intentions, the end result of this action will be millions of dollars in the pockets of ACLU lawyers from the unlimited number of lawsuits that are bound to result. Yeah, I know the annointed one stated that there would be no “criminal” charges brought against CIA employees, but doesn’t cover any civil actions that could, and most likely will, result.
The Obama administration is clearly aware of the likelihood as is evidenced by his decision to have the United States government pay the legal expenses of any CIA employee who is taken to court. Imagine that, Obama offering government money he doesn’t have. I wonder where those funds are coming from.
Of course, the real reason Obama took this action is most likely due to the following two reasons:
- Embarrass the Bush Administration. This carries a lot of weight for the “I inherited it” President. By finding one more way to take the focus off of his inexperience and ineptitude, he’s able to keep pushing his fascist agenda by getting the media to focus on their favorite whipping boy.
- Appease the radical left-wing extremist. This decision was big time payback to the those in his party who were none to happy with his delay in pulling the troops out of Iraq and his increased activities in neighboring Afghanistan.
In the end, Obama accomplishes both of these objectives while guaranteeing major payola to his buddies in the ACLU, all at taxpayer expense. The fact that he has weakened America’s position in the “war on terror” – oops, I mean “Overseas Contingency Operations” is irrelevant to the “Apologist-in-Chief.”
When explaining his actions, Obama said the following…..
This is a time for reflection, not retribution. I respect the strong views and emotions that these issues evoke. We have been through a dark and painful chapter in our history. But at a time of great challenges and disturbing disunity, nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past.
Quite a mouthful, isn’t it? And not a word of it true. If he was sincere about the innocence of the CIA employees, he could issue an unconditional Presidential Pardon, which would truly put this “dark chapter” in the past and allow us to move on. However, since that would take away the benefits mentioned above, I don’t think I’ll hold my breath.
Besides, this is a stimulus plan for the ACLU.
