Obamacare collapse now belongs to Trump and the GOP

Mitch McConnell took his status as a lying coward to a whole new level with the release of the Senate version of the fake repeal of Obamacare.

After challenging McConnell to create a bill with “heart” and was less “mean” than the American Health Care Act (AHCA) passed in the House, the Senate Majority Leader-in-name-only brought the Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017 (BCRA) out from behind closed doors. Needless to say, Donald Trump was extremely delighted.

Also pleased with the Senate bill was the architect of Obamacare, Jonathan Gruber, who stated in an interview what we already know about the GOP’s so-called repeal of Obamacare—it isn’t a repeal at all.

So, it’s official. Obamacare, warts and all, now belongs to Donald Trump and the GOP. And just like McConnell, Trump is a coward who knows that this fake-repeal is a broken campaign promise, so of course, he had to launch his C.Y.A. campaign, allowing Congress to take the heat.

As I mentioned earlier, Trump threw the House of Representatives under the bus when he called AHCA “mean.” And now that the Senate bill has been announced, Trump is getting ready to throw a few Senate Republicans who oppose his fake-repeal of Obamacare.

Much as he did against members of the Freedom Caucus when they opposed the House version, Trump and his surrogates are targeting Republicans in the Senate for their opposition. While technically not coming from Trump himself, a million-dollar-plus ad campaign against Senator Dean Heller has been launched by a PAC with close ties to Trump and has had VP Mike Pence raise money for it. Additional campaigns are likely against Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and Ron Johnson.

Repealing Obamacare was simple, but Trump called it complicated. While Micky and Co. promised to repeal Obamacare “root-and-branch,” they have instead pruned and watered it.

America continues its march toward single-payer, big-government, socialized medicine, which has been the Progressive goal all along. Only now, instead of Obama, Trump and the GOP will be responsible for it.
