Though he got in trouble for violating proper decorum, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) got it right when he accused the Physician-in-Chief of lying during his speech to a joint session of Congress last fall when Obama was still mustering up support for his healthcare hijacking.
Besides the strong arm tactics and bribery of Henchman Harry Reid, Obamacare was built on a mountain of lies. But the two most obvious un-truths were how much it would cost, and the reality that it was nothing more than another weapon in the arsenal of Obama’s socio-facist redistribution-of-wealth agenda. Both of these lies came to light this week.
Yesterday, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) announced that Obamacare will cost more than originally projected. The reason? Because of “discretionary” spending items in the legislation that didn’t come to light until now.
Congressional Budget Office estimates released Tuesday predict the health care overhaul will likely cost about $115 billion more in discretionary spending over ten years than the original cost projections.
The additional spending — if approved over the years by Congress — would bring the total estimated cost of the overhaul to about $1 trillion…
The CBO released the estimates in response to a request from California Rep. Jerry Lewis, ranking Republican on the House Appropriations Committee. A spokeswoman for Lewis said the inquiry was filed before the House voted on the bill…
The CBO estimated in March that the net cost of the overhaul would be $788 billion over 10 years, but cautioned that it couldn’t make an estimate of the discretionary costs without more time and information.
I guess Princess Pelosi was right:
Proof of Obama’s belief that socialized medicine can be a vehicle for redistributing wealth comes to us from his nomination of Donald Berwick as the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As reported by RedState.com, Berwick is a firm believer in using healthcare to accomplish this purpose.
“Any health care funding plan that is just equitable civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional.” - Donald Berwick
As a footnote to this last point, it should be noted that the healthcare system Berwick consulted on, and is so infatuated with, is over budget and facing cutbacks on services and medicines. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is denying necessary drugs for cancer patients and a Daily Mail story tells the story of a person who fell victim to this policy.
It would seem that rationing is the ultimate conclusion to healthcare plans like the one Obama and Berwick support, but since when has a progressive ever let ineffective government get in the way growing it?
It fits right in with the rest of the lies about Obamacare.
