Obama: There is no difference between Christians and ISIS

Moral equivalence: a tool of the liberal left used to draw false comparisons between two phenomena which are not morally equivalent at all.

This is one of Barack Hussein Obama’s favorites when he defends radical Islam and the terrorism it brings to the world. At the National Prayer Breakfast yesterday, Obama used it again when he compared the atrocities committed by groups like ISIS to those of Christians “in the name of Christ.”

“Unless we got on our high horse and think that this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

“So it is not unique to one group or one religion,” he said. “There is a tendency in us, a simple tendency that can pervert and distort our faith.”

Of course, when Obama ambiguously refers to “our faith,” we are to assume he means Christianity. And when he talks about “our home country,” we are led believe he means America. Based on comments made by Michelle Obama, he could just as easily be talking about Islam and Kenya.

Why would Obama say such a shocking and offensive thing about Christianity? Probably for the same reason he said something similar about the Jews in 2009 when he compared the Palestinian’s desire to steal land that belongs to Israel to the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust under Nazi Germany.

The reason? He is an unabashed and unapologetic defender of Islam, the faith of his father.

The simple fact of the matter is that there is an element in the Islamic community around the world that desires the destruction of the western world. Beginning with Arab and Muslim countries, these elements of radical Islam are working to impose Sharia law, killing Christians, Jews, and other non believers along the way. From Boko Haram to ISIS and al-Qaida, the threat to western society is real, and Obama refuses to do anything about it.

There’s also his comparison to Jim Crow laws and slavery. The absurdity of such a comparison is beyond the pale—moral equivalencies usually are—but it’s typical of the race-baiting politics we’ve become all too familiar with under the Obama administration.

Of course, we shouldn’t be all the surprised by this latest attempt by the Islamapologist-in-Chief, as Allen West calls him, to support Islam based on his track record. But we should understand that there is absolutely no moral equivalency for the horrific behavior of Islamic terrorists.
