Nobody’s As Qualified As Barry and Joe

At a campaign stop in Ohio last week, Joe “Sir Gaffs-Alot” Biden went on a rant saying that anyone who doubted the dreams of his father – hey, that could almost be the title of a book – for his children simply didn’t “get it,” and failed to understand families like the one Joe grew up in.

“My mother believed and my father believed that if I wanted to be president of the United States, that I could be, I could be vice president! My mother and father believed that if my brother or sister wanted to be a millionaire, they could be a millionaire! My mother and father dreamed as much as any rich guy dreams!

“They don’t get us! They don’t get who we are!” he yelled before the crowd, drawing loud applause.

But that’s not all that America doesn’t get. Apparently, we don’t get that nobody’s as qualified to be President as Barry – and by default, Joe – I guess it’s only their parents who were blessed with the “President Genome” – particularly Mitt Romney and every plumber in America.

“I’m not criticizing private equity firms, but I’m suggesting the people who run them, the same quality and objective of running a private equity firm is not what qualifies you to be president.”

“When you are president, your job is to see to it that companies make a profit, but not maximize profits at everybody else’s expense. You look at workers laid off to retrain them and get them rehired.”

“Your job as president is to promote the common good,” Biden continued, before concluding, “That doesn’t mean the private equity guys are bad guys. They are not. But that no more qualifies you to be president than being a plumber. And by the way, there are a lot of awful smart plumbers.”

Now, wait!

It’s the President’s job to make sure that businesses make a profit? Then to restrict how much profit they make? And it’s his job to retrain and rehire workers? I realize that I’m just a lowly voter who’s too stupid to realize how qualified Joe and Barry are, but I don’t believe it’s the President’s job to insure a business makes a profit, nor is it his job to limit how much profit they make – although that hasn’t stopped them from trying.

And if spending money we don’t have, to pay for socialistic programs we don’t need, while practicing a “progressive” liberalism that takes America ever further from the foundation of freedom and smaller government is what we get from a “qualified” individual, than perhaps America needs a few “unqualified” people – like a private equity guy or a plumber – to run for office.

All this male-bovine excrement aside, in Joe’s statements we see the epitome of the self-centered entitlement attitude that is so pervasive in too many politicians today. As they see it, we should consider ourselves blessed for having the privilege of serving being served by such qualified individuals.

After all, nobody’s as qualified as Barry and Joe are, right?
