New poll: Voters prefer dictator to the Constitution

Obamas-useful-idiots

Actually, there are a few Republicans and unaffiliated voters who would be OK with it too, but I’ll get to that later.

It’s no secret that Obama couldn’t get away with his dictatorial approach to immigration and health care if the Democrats didn’t have his back, but a new poll seems to indicate that they are willing to take things to a whole new level. While Obama has limited his unconstitutional overreach to ignoring or rewriting federal statutes—such as immigration and Obamacare mandates—Democrats are starting to wonder: Hey! Why don’t we rewrite some federal court rulings too?

According to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey, 1-in-4 (26%) likely U.S. voters think the president should have the right to ignore the courts if they stand in the way of actions he feels are important to the country. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 43% of Democrats favor such action / only 35% of Democrats disagreed
  • 81% of Republicans oppose it
  • 67% of unaffiliated voters oppose it

Republicans and Democrats are in general agreement on the importance of the three branches, but unaffiliated voters are more likely to feel that all three are of equal importance. Yet while 72% of GOP voters and 63% of unaffiliated voters believe it is more important to preserve our constitutional system of checks and balances than for the federal government to operate efficiently, Democrats are evenly divided.

This poll follows another one I wrote about in January where a majority of Americans were willing to surrender their constitutional right to privacy in order if it would allow the government to keep them safe from terrorist attacks. And now we get this poll that shows a plurality of likely voters who favor the president ignoring the courts if it fits his agenda?

This is some serious crap!

By the way, to my Republican friends who believe as Ann Coulter does—that a “crap-ass” Republican is better than anyone with a “D” after their names—note the part of the poll that shows 3-in-10 Republicans either had no opinion or were OK with flushing the Constitution down the toilet in favor of the oxymoronic idea of allowing the government to operate efficiently.

Those of us on the right are often ridiculed for comparing Obama to being a king or a dictator. This poll shows us that we might be closer to being right than we want to admit.
