Lindsey Graham’s empty threat of impeachment

Obama-drumbeat-Sue-and-impeachEarlier this year, Gutless On Principles (GOP) Hall of Shame member, and rumoured presidential candidate, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-INO SC) threatened President Barack Hussein Obama with impeachment if he continued to release terrorist detainees from the military prison facility located at Guantanamo Bay without first receiving explicit approval from Congress.

At the time Graham made his threat, he stated that “it’s going to be impossible for (him) to flow prisoners out of Gitmo now without a huge backlash… There will be people on our side calling for his impeachment if he did that.” Apparently, Barry is calling his bluff, because this past Thursday—the same day that Barry gave the finger to Congress with his Executive Order granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens—he released five more terror detainees from Gitmo, including four Al Qaeda fighters.

While we wait for a response from Senator Graham’s office, other Republican lawmakers who have been pressing Obama to cease releasing detainees amid reports that some of these former prisoners have not only returned to their terrorist ways, but they have joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). One of those Republican lawmakers was Congressman Buck McKeon, the outgoing House Armed Services Committee Chairman:

“If just one U. S. soldier loses their life over these (releases), we will have failed in our duty to the American people. What the Obama administration is doing is dangerous and, frankly, reckless. (He) has chosen many times to put politics above national security. It’s time they stop playing with fire and start doing what’s right. Until we can assure the terrorists stay off the battlefield, they must stay behind bars.”

Actually, congressman, even if no one dies from these releases, you’ve failed your duty.

We need look no further than the track record of key Republicans we have documented in the Gutless On Principles (GOP) Hall of Shame. Spending is up. Deficits are up. Taxes are higher. Jobs are nearly non-existent. Obamacare still exists. Amnesty for illegals was just announced. In every one of these areas, Republicans promised to stop Obama. And in every case Republicans retreated from these fights.

At the time Graham mentioned his threat of impeachment, he was in the middle of a primary election in South Carolina, a contest he won quite handily.

This is just a guess, but I’m pretty sure that with those pesky primaries and general elections behind him and his fellow Republicans, Graham’s words will wind up in the ash heap of failed Republican leadership, along with their empty threats against King Obama.
