King Obama’s next move? Raising taxes without Congress

Obama kingArticle 1 – Section 8 of the Constitution states that the power to lay and collect taxes lies with the Congress. So, guess what Obama is thinking about doing.

If you said raise taxes via executive action, you’d be right. At least that’s the word from White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, who confirmed Monday that Obama is “very interested” in the idea of raising taxes through unilateral executive action.

The topic was brought up by a reporter after Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT)—a self-avowed socialist—wrote a letter calling on Obama to raise over $100 billion through I.R.S. executive actions and bypassing Congress.

“The president certainly has not indicated any reticence in using his executive authority to try and advance an agenda that benefits middle class Americans,” Earnest said, stating the extremely obvious.

“Now I don’t want to leave you with the impression that there is some imminent announcement, there is not, at least that I know of,” Earnest continued. “But the president has asked his team to examine the array of executive authorities that are available to him to try to make progress on his goals. So I am not in a position to talk in any detail at this point, but the president is very interested in this avenue generally.”

Wow! I thought his interest in using the Constitution as his personal toilet paper was his primary interest, not just a general one.

Obama’s “for the record” position on the subject of higher taxes is that Congress just approve his recent budget proposal by passing a corporate tax hike. But if Congress fails to do as the king wishes, he could do just as he did when Congress failed to give him what he wanted with immigration reform and take unilateral executive action.

Obama has always considered the Constitution to be a document of negative liberties that ties his hands when it comes to doing whatever he feels like in order to fundamentally transform the United States of America.

In light of such statements, I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to say this unconstitutional idea to raise taxes is all but guaranteed.

By the way, the inside-the-beltway RINOs in Washington will have something to say about this when it happens. They’ll kick and scream, and make accusations about how Obama is violating the Constitution and is acting illegally. But in the end, they will do what they always do when it comes to dealing with Obama… nothing!
