John McCain’s “Mini-Me” ready to run for president

McCain Dr. Evil - Graham Mini MeLindsey Graham, who can usually found around the Capitol playing the role of “Mini-Me” to John McCain’s “Dr. Evil,” says he’s “98.6 percent sure” that he will seek the Republican nomination for president.

Like McCain before him, Graham is a member of the Gutless On Principles (GOP) Hall of Shame. He is considered a national security hawk and an ardent advocate of “immigration reform.”

So would we be getting a recycled version of John McCain in a Graham candidacy? A few things we already know about these RINOs provides the answer.

It was just a few days ago that McCain expressed his strong disagreement with a recent court ruling that found the National Security Agency’s warrantless phone tapping illegal, a sentiment undoubtably held by Graham. It wasn’t that long ago that he expressed his support of the NSA program, saying he was “glad” it existed.

And on the immigration issue, McCain and Graham were a part of the immigration reform “Gang of Eight” that advocated a no-holds-barred approach to providing a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

In a USA Today interview, Graham made it clear that his approach to illegal immigration will be significantly different that his Republican opponents.

“If I were president of the United States, I would veto any bill that did not have a pathway to citizenship,” said Graham. He also stated how essential it is to ensure that the path exists “because I don’t like the idea of millions of people living in America for the rest of their lives being the hired help. That’s not who we are.”

Needless to say, I have a few problems with the idea of a Mini-Me candidacy:

  • I have a problem with his a position on illegal amnesty; a position that nearly mirrors the one held by Hillary Clinton.
  • I have a problem with his Joseph Goebbels approach to the Constitution in order to expand government control.
  • I have a problem with RINO Republicans like him who think being more like Democrats is the key to undoing the damage done by Democrats.

We’ve tried the milquetoast who doesn’t stand for anything in an attempt to win the votes of people who will never vote for you anyway approach before and failed. John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012 prove that fact conclusively.

Mini-Me says he’s 98.6% sure he is running. If he does, and he wins the nomination, I’m 100% sure that the Democrat nominee, whoever he or she is, will be president in 2016.
