John McCain should listen to Matt Foley

MattFoley4Last week, Mitch “Lyin’ Eyes” McConnell threw the House Republicans under the proverbial bus when he blamed them for his inability to get a bill through the Senate that fully funds the Department of Homeland Security, but denies funds for Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty.

And just like clockwork, Sen. Jeff Flake and other cheerleaders in the McConnell political machine — “Oh Mickey you’re so fine. You’re so fine you blow my mind. Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!” — parroted the lie. A lie, by the way, because the bill can be passed with a simple majority using budget reconciliation.

Never one to miss out on an opportunity to stab his fellow Republicans in the back, the Maverick Republican Senator from Arizona — the “M” stands for milquetoast — John McCain, joined the growing chorus of Republicans singing the wrong song.

“The American people didn’t give us a majority to have a fight between the House and Senate Republicans,” said McCain on Meet The Press. “We cannot — we cannot — cut funding for the Department of Homeland Security. We need to sit down and work this thing out, and there (are) ways we can address what the president did (which) was unconstitutional, but it is not through cutting — shutting down — the Department of Homeland Security. It’s too serious.”

Well, first of all Johnny boy, this isn’t a fight between House and Senate Republicans. This is a fight between Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats. You know, those “good friends” you’re always chumming up with from the other side of the aisle.

Second, this is not a cut in funding. The bill passed by the House fully funds DHS.

Third, there is no magic pill method for dealing with Obama’s actions. The only tool left in your tool box is the power of the purse provided for in the Constitution.

Saturday Night Live celebrated its 40 year anniversary this past weekend. In that spirit, I have a request of Mr. McCain. In those situations where you are tempted to spew liberal talking points to cover up for your absolute ignorance, I would like to ask you to heed the words of motivational speaker Matt Foley:
