In his new book, Life Among Cannibals, Arlen Specter writes about being “betrayed” by the Obama Administration. It seems – to Specter at least – that Obama abandoned him during the 2010 elections after his vote in support of Obamacare:
Former Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) writes in a new book that President Obama ditched him in the 2010 election after he helped Obama win the biggest legislative victory of his term by passing healthcare reform.
Specter also claims that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) did not uphold his promise to grant him seniority accrued over 28 years of service in the Senate as a Republican.
Specter, who rocked Washington’s political establishment and made headlines around the country when he left the Republican Party to join Democrats in April of 2009, has kept quiet about these slights until now.
Yeah, paybacks are a real bite in the backside, aren’t they Arlen?
You go turncoat by switching parties in order to avoid losing a primary run against Pat Toomey (R), and you want to blame your slaughter in the Democrat party primary to Joe Sestak – who ended up losing to Toomey in the general election – on Obama.
Specter is the perfect example of the power-broker mentality that exists in Washington. His conversion wasn’t a matter of conviction, it was a matter of convenience. His decision to switch parties – even making a deal with Harry Reid to have his seniority treated as if he was always a Democrat – is the ultimate example of the lengths Washington Insiders will go to keep their power.
Specter is a poster child of the RINO Republican. He helped bring America to the edge of destruction thanks to his contributions in the areas of excessive spending and bigger government.
He was betrayed by Obama and the Democrats after he betrayed the Republican party.
Hey, Arlen! You reap what you sow!
