Following the Republican “can’t we all just get along?” retreat, Senate Majority Leader and Gutless On Principles (GOP) Hall of Shame member Mitch McConnell informed House Republicans that they should lower their expectations concerning the bill passed in the House of Representatives that funds the Department of Homeland Security, but defunds Obama’s illegal amnesty order. Why? Because he doesn’t have 60 votes in the Senate.
His reason may sound valid, but it not true. It takes 60 votes to end a filibuster for non-budget business, but it only takes a simple majority to pass a budget.
So, why would McConnell say something that simply isn’t true? Well, if he can blame something “outside his control” for not getting something done, he can’t be held responsible. In other words, he’s a spineless coward with zero leadership skills, and a track record of surrendering in the face of victory. I’d call him a jellyfish, but that would be an insult to aquatic life.
But fear not. The RINOs who run the party are about to let McConnell off the hook for an entirely different reason.
Moderate Mediocre Republicans in both the Senate and the House leadership are using the recent terror threat on the U.S. Capitol as the perfect scenario to cave on overturning Obama’s executive amnesty. And even though the FBI has described the suspect in that case as a “momma’s boy, whose plans were more “aspirational” than “operational,” the mushy middle of the Republican party are ready to bail. In a press conference with National Review Online, House GOP Conference chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-INO WA) had this to say about funding DHS:
“It really is the number one responsibility of the federal government to keep the country safe and we need to take this seriously… we will be working very closely with the president.”
Of course she should take this seriously. That’s why the new Republican majority should be defunding Obama’s executive amnesty, since terrorists have entered the country through our open borders. And does she think we should be comforted with her statement about “working very closely with the president?”
But hey, she’s not alone in her capitulation to the dictator-in-chief. Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-INO TX) joined in the GOP chorus of cowards:
That’s why you’re hearing an unequivocal commitment to funding the Department of Homeland Security. We’re not going to put that at risk under any circumstances.”
Apparently, the “good” Senator from Texas is unaware that close to 90% of DHS is deemed essential and wouldn’t be affected by a shutdown, so nothing would be “at risk” as he says.
The Republican leadership promised to deal with Obama’s amnesty before the election, so we voted for them. When they only funded DHS through February in last month’s Cromnibus, they promised to deal with the amnesty issue once they were officially in charge.
That day is nearly upon us, and now that the can can’t be kicked down the road any further, they are apparently going to use the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, and the delusions of grandeur of a momma’s boy from Ohio, to once again cave to Obama in an effort to protect the party establishment.
In other words, they are going hide their cowardice behind terrorists, and let that determine how they will handle illegal immigration. Pathetic!
