G.O.P. – Gutless On Principles

Due to the frequency of an ever-increasing number of establishment Republicans who are more concerned about protecting their jobs–and the power that goes with it–than they are protecting their principles, we are announcing a new “honor” for the Gutless On Principles Republicans.

The November election of 2012 was disappointing, if not heartbreaking. But as the G.O.P. reflects on the “why” for their losses, an growing number are devolving to the practice of appeasement and compromise, under the misguided–and politically convenient–idea that the reason they didn’t win was because they were too conservative; that is, not “moderate” enough.

The fallacy with this thinking is that we already know it doesn’t work.

The failed candidacy of John McCain in 2008, followed by McCain 2.0–a.k.a. the Mitt Romney campaign of 2012–proved that moderate Republican has simply become code for “Democrat-lite.” And as the nearly 50-50 split in the vote proved in these elections, when the two choices are essentially the same, it basically comes down to coin toss on who to vote for.

Additional evidence of the failure with this belief can be found in a few 2012 Senate races as well. Scott Brown, a Republican who disavowed the T.E.A. Party after they helped get him elected in 2009, lost his bid for reelection to Elizabeth Warren. Linda McMahon, a Republican who encouraged voters to elect Obama as long as they voted for her too, lost her election–for the second time in two years–to her Democrat opponent.

On the other hand, while the election of 2012 did succeed in producing some stark choices on the Senate level, the Conservative candidates presented were inept–the “i” in inept stands for idiot–and they lost because they were pathetic campaigners, NOT because they were conservative. The truth is that Todd Akin in Missouri and Richard Mourdock in Indiana were both leading in the polls until their famous foot-in-mouth moments concerning rape as it pertained to abortion rights.

Reflection is a good thing, but during a time when Republicans should be strategizing on how to leverage their conservative/libertarian supporters to fight the liberal/progressive machine, they have chosen to abandon them to protect their job in the name of tolerance and compromise; the Constitution be damned.

Introducing: The G.O.P. Hall of Shame

It’s time to stop supporting Republicans who only pay lip service to Conservatives in order to get elected and then forsake their promises in exchange for the power and glory of being “inside-the-beltway.”

We are making our inaugural inductions this week, beginning with our first of three tomorrow; they are:

  • Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA)
  • Senator John McCain (R-AZ)
  • Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)

Beginning in January, we will induct one member each month until the 2014 mid-term elections.

It’s time to be a light in the darkness! It’s time for the G.O.P. Hall of Shame!

Compromise is usually a sign of weakness, or an admission of defeat. Strong men don’t compromise, it is said, and principles should never be compromised – Andrew Carnegie

Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions – Gilbert K. Chesterton
