Snowflake considers free speech a “threat to America”

Following the piece I wrote yesterday about post-Constitutional America, one of my readers commented on how the America we once knew was dying and that Donald Trump was our last chance to save it.

Obviously, I completely disagree that the man who routinely attacks our Constitutional rights–such as: freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom from unreasonable search and seizure–stands as our last hope to save America. However, I do agree with the reader’s claim that America is dying–at least the America created by our Founding Fathers.

Nowhere is this more obvious than in America’s indoctrination centers (public schools) and on college campuses across the country.

At the Strident Conservative, you’ll find articles where children in preschool and kindergarten have been disciplined, even expelled, for not towing the pro-LGBT line. You’ll also find articles about college snowflakes promoting anti-free speech “safe zones” and the use of violence to silence so-called hate speech. And on campuses such as UC Berkeley–considered the home of the free speech movement–riots have occurred by students trying to silence politically incorrect speech.

While UC Berkeley is the campus making the news for its anti-free speech hysteria, it isn’t the only University of California franchise attacking the First Amendment.

In an op-ed written for the student newspaper, a student at UC Santa Barbara is calling on the United States to simply do away with the First Amendment altogether because, in her opinion, free speech has become “a threat to the very idea of America.”

“In today’s age, with the third KKK movement and the kneeling during the national anthem, there is no doubt that the freedom of speech has been stretched way too thin.

“With two different ends of the spectrum, there should be a fine line where free speech stops being a right and starts being a threat to the very idea of America.”

Apparently, the irony of her position is lost on this student.

This attitude concerning political correctness and its effect on free speech is it spreads like a virus across America. A recent poll by the CATO Institute found that a vast majority of Americans believe political correctness is destroying free speech, with 71 percent of respondents stating that it has shut down discussion on important issues.

As bad as the poll is, it also revealed the disturbing lengths some respondents were willing to go in order to silence free speech.

  • 51 percent of liberals says it is OK to punch Nazis.
  • 53 percent of Republicans favor revoking citizenship of flag-burners.
  • 51 percent of Democrats would make it a crime to refuse to use the preferred pronouns of transgendered people.
  • 65 percent of Republicans would fire professional football players for refusing to stand for the national anthem.
  • 80 percent of liberals say it is hate speech to call for the deportation of illegal immigrants.

Post-Constitutional America is dying and if conservatives refuse to defend the Constitution, death is all but certain.
