“Don” Michael Bloomberg’s Mafia Extortion Tactics

Anyone familiar with the history of organized crime in NYC knows about the Mafia. It would appear that the current godfather mayor of the Big Apple will return to those glory days with a new “my way or the grave” approach to getting his way.

Here’s a little background:

Mafia families used a variety of activities to accomplish their objectives. One of the most common is also one of the simplest — extortion.

Through the use of extortion, mafia dons would force people to give up their money in exchange for “protection” from imagined threats – usually of their making. These “protection rackets” are extortion schemes. For instance, they could tell a shop owner that he needs to pay them money every week so they can “protect” him from criminals who might demolish the shop or hurt his family.

In an interview with CNN – which means that only a few people saw it – Don Bloomberg advocated extortion by police departments across America in order to them to get the protection they need.

To paraphrase: “you need protection, but we aren’t going to give it to you unless you “pay” us by passing anti-2nd Amendment, unconstitutional, legislation we like.”

Sounds like extortion to me.
