Dems push bill allowing crime victims to sue gun manufacturers

Gun - Constitution - FlagWhen the do-good, nanny-state whack-jobs of the liberal-left decided that their efforts to get Americans to quit smoking weren’t working, they devised a scheme to punish the tobacco industry with massive lawsuits intended to make their product too expensive to consume; and while they’re at it, line the pockets of lobbyists, lawyers and politicians.

They lost the debate of public opinion, so they abused the legal system to get their way; much like they have done with issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage.

Enter the Second Amendment and the false narrative that guns cause crime. Just as it was when they lost the debate on smoking, the left has lost for years in their attempts to ban guns. So what is a “good” liberal to do when their “we know what’s best for you better than you do” attempts fail?

Well, if you’re Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), you push for a bill that will allow victims of crime to abuse the legal system with frivolous lawsuits against the gun industry.

Oh, and for good measure you also allow them to sue the dealer who sold you the gun. Said Schiff:

“If you’re a pharmaceutical company and sell faulty drugs, you can be held liable. If you’re a liquor store and sell alcohol to minors, you can be held liable. Why should it be any different for gun manufacturers?”

Absurd for many reasons.

He implies that gun manufacturers are immune from lawsuits due to faulty products — they aren’t. And his effort to allow lawsuits against gun dealers by drawing a parallel with selling alcohol to minors—which is illegal, while selling guns, which requires a federal background check is not—isn’t even an apples-to-apples comparison.

Armed—pardon the pun—with new momentum following Obama’s unconstitutional executive actions restricting our gun rights, the attacks on our Second Amendment rights from the left are likely to increase.

By the way, many of the items included in this bill, along with Obama’s executive actions, were proposed and voted on in April 2013. It had majority support, but failed due to the filibuster rules in the Senate.

So don’t think it can’t happen.
