Chuckleheads Of The World Unite!

During the imaginary financial crisis known as the “fiscal cliff“—we call it imaginary because it was created by gutless politicians who lacked the courage to deal with the government’s spending addiction during the debt ceiling negotiations in 2011—Republican Congressman, Steve LaTourette, was apparently frustrated with the behavior of Conservative Republicans who actually voted in manner consistent with the radical principle that the government needed to tax less and spend less.

Of course, LaTourette considers himself above such conviction obstructionist, radical behavior. After all, the “C” in Conservative stands for “chucklehead“—at least that’s the opinion of the recently retired Congressman from Ohio—and his evolution to becoming the effete politician he is today shouldn’t be hindered by 40-50 people not a part of the “moderate middle.”

Now the reliable ally of John Boehner—the House Speaker who was inducted in to the G.O.P. (Gutless On Principles) Hall of Shame in December, 2012—is ready to take his steadfast commitment to the mediocre flip-flopping compromising gutless moderate middle to the next level as the new president of the Main Street Partnership (formally the Republican Main Street Partnership).

The group’s new president told Yahoo News that he plans to begin conversations with Blue Dog Democrats and centrist groups in the coming months.

“The goal is to try and fill the void that is the middle,” LaTourette, who resigned from Congress this year, said. “The American political system is like a doughnut: You’ve got sides, but you don’t have anything in the middle, and it would be my goal to work with Republicans and Democrats who want to find the path forward to getting things done and compromise.”

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, LaTourette added: “While we have changed our name, we have not changed our values or our mission. We will continue to be a right of center organization and continue to represent the governing wing of the Republican Party.”

The Main Street Partnership will also expand its super PAC, Defending Main Street, to aid center-right members of both parties, LaTourette said, adding, “It’s not going to be focused so much on party as it is on protecting people from the right and left extremes if they choose to do the right things.”

Nothing like a commitment to non-commitment, eh? By the way, among the many Republican members of Main Street are Republican Conference chair (and fellow Boehner ally) Cathy McMorris-Rogers, along with another inductee to the G.O.P. Hall of Shame, John McCain.

Unfortunately, this is but a snapshot of things to come for conservative, Constitution-loving, Americans.

  • In the post-mortem of the November elections, progressive Republicans—aka Democrat-lite—are developing strategies to protect their circle of power against the Conservative/Libertarian uprising America needs in this hour.
  • In the new Congress, Boehner removed Conservatives from committee positions in retaliation for their unwillingness to support Obama’s tax increases on the wealthy.
  • National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.), another Boehner ally, said his group would most likely continue its policy of staying out of contested primaries but did note that the House campaign arm is an “incumbent-driven organization” that wants to ensure its incumbents “are as strong as they can be.” (emphasis mine)
  • Republican party leaders in the Senate are developing plans on how to become more involved in a pre-primary screening process.

Translation? Protect the power – not the country.

We shouldn’t be surprised that inside-the-beltway Republicans will attempt to shut down those who threaten their seats-of-power. But in the words of Albert Einstein, “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

Let’s resolve to fight every “mediocre mind” within the Republican ranks and commit ourselves to continue the good fight to restore life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to this great country.

Chuckleheads of the world, unite!

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good.

At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
