King Obama’s next move? Raising taxes without Congress

Obama king

Article 1 – Section 8 of the Constitution states that the power to lay and collect taxes lies with the Congress. So, guess what Obama is thinking about doing. If you said raise taxes via executive action, you’d be right. At least that’s the word from White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, who confirmed Monday that Obama is “very interested” in the idea of raising taxes through unilateral executive action. The topic was brought up by a reporter after Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT)—a self-avowed socialist—wrote a letter calling on Obama to raise over $100 billion through I.R.S. executive actions and bypassing…

Income Inequality

NEWSFLASH!! The White House Council of Economic Advisers released the Economic Report of the President yesterday, and it noted that median family incomes are down since Obama took office. Not only that, but many Americans are still worse off today than they were when he became president. I know… I know… That’s not really a newsflash. Taxes Ahead

Almost right on queue, the liberals are coming out of the woodwork—the “pest” reference is deliberate—to announce that it’s time for you and I to step up to the plate and hand over more of our money. Joining a growing movement, an opinion piece by the Denver Post Editorial Board details how the recent bout of dropping fuel prices presents the perfect opportunity to raise gas tax rates in order to help the country’s neglected highway systems. They give the following reasons: Most forecasters, including the federal government, say that lower gas prices are likely to continue. And as we all know, when the government…

TEA Party vs IRS

In his final act as Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee—he’s stepping down because of term limits—Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) released a report on Tuesday saying that IRS officials were swayed by Democrats calling for stronger regulations on nonprofit groups that had become more involved in politics. TEA Party Patriots, one of the organizations targeted in the IRS scandal, had this to say about it: “There is no question that the IRS as an agency, and its leaders individually, directed and implemented a scheme to silence and demoralize TEA Party groups,” said Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the Atlanta-based group.…
