Boehner leads the way in cave on executive amnesty

Obama sue me Boehner

Do you remember when Gutless On Principles (GOP) Hall of Shame members Mitch McConnell and John Boehner capitulated in the budget battle just after the November election? Sure you do. That’s when he led the way in passing the CROmnibus with a promise to exercise the “power of the purse” to shut down Homeland Security if Obama refused change his plans for illegals.

Well, Obama hasn’t changed his plans, but apparently the GOP has.

The latest comes from a report where Boehner told his conference at a closed-door meeting—remember the days when he promised more transparency?—that he has a team exploring options to challenge last year’s executive action. According to a source present at the meeting:

Boehner has a team “working on litigation” to stop Obama. They are “finalizing a plan to authorize litigation” that “gives them the best chance of success.”

Hmmmm… If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t the temporary funding of DHS supposed to stop Obama?

Boehner and McConnell were lying when they passed CROmnibus with the promise to follow through on stopping Obama, something many GOP winners repeatedly and explicitly refused to do. Not only will the new Senate GOP majority not shut down DHS, they won’t be shutting down any part of the government.

And who can blame them? It’s hard work acting like a Democrat while pretending to be a Republican.

Just as he did with his Executive Order lawsuit, we are back to Boehner’s “hole card” where he will relinquish his congressional responsibilities to the courts in his effort to stop Obama and appease Conservatives. Sadly, the result is likely to be the same.

Boehner and McConnell are lying cowards, and they are hoping this idea will be a sufficient consolation prize to silence the conservative base of the party when they cave to Obama while fully funding DHS next month. In other words, they won’t do a thing about Obama’s executive amnesty.
