Bless me father, I’m a global warming denier

Bless me father poster

I recently heard a story about a man who was caught in the act of having an affair in the back of his sports utility vehicle. I hope he isn’t Catholic, because if he is, he has committed the unforgiveable sin—not for adultery, but for owning a SUV.

Pope Francis plans to issue a papal encyclical this summer that will urge Catholics everywhere to take action to end global warming. Stressing the effects of climate change on the poor, Pope Francis said:

“I don’t know if (human activity) is the only cause, but mostly, in great part, it is man who has slapped nature in the face. We have in a sense taken over nature.”

Cardinal Peter Turkson, who helped draft the encyclical, said in a recent speech that the Pope was “compelled by the scientific evidence for climate change” while also taking into consideration scientific disagreement over its causes. However, based on further comments from Turkson, the Pope isn’t taking scientific disagreement all that seriously. In a statement that could have been written by John Kerry, he said:

“What is not contested is that our planet is getting warmer. The threats that arise from global inequality and the destruction of the environment are interrelated, and they are the greatest threats we face as a human family today.”

No insult intended Cardinal, but NASA’s own Remote Sensing Systems have shown that the planet has been cooling since 1998. So, yeah. It is contested.

Patrick J. Michaels, director of the Center for the Study of Science at the Cato Institute, said, “I would think that the Pope should come down on the side of economic development as a way of promoting environmental justice.”

Yeah, you’d think so, but that would mean the Marxist Pope would have to accept capitalism and the free market as good things. As we see in this “sneak peek,” the Pope’s encyclical blames capitalism for the problem.

  • The document is being called “a message certain to intensify the anger of GOP climate-science deniers, Big Oil, Koch Brothers, Exxon Mobil and most fossil-fuel firms, as well as their banks, investors owning their stocks and capitalists everywhere.”
  • Market Watch is reporting that the Pope will also address humanity’s “lost moral compass” on the environment, the “exploitation of natural resources,” rapid “environmental collapse,” a “failure to respect nature” and the greed behind it all, concluding that “money trumps morality” and “capitalism is killing planet Earth.”

Blaming capitalism and the free market for non-existent global warming has become the number one accusation leveled by the environmental extremists as they call for an end to capitalism and a shift to Marxist economic policies.

Recent studies continue to prove that the “deniers” are more right about global warming than the Al Gore disciples are.

Case in point: you may have heard that Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown has decreed that the drought on the left coast provides conclusive proof that global warming is real, but a just released peer-reviewed study in the journal Geophysical Research Letters states that California’s drought, as well as the record-breaking snow storms in the northeast, are caused by a massive blob of warm water in the Pacific and has nothing to do with global warming.

I hope the man I mentioned earlier makes the decision to end his marital infidelity. But if he doesn’t, he probably stands a better chance of avoiding hell in the afterlife, if next time, he takes the hybrid.
